Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an application. * This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 20th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $500 Reboot: System Update Complete!   If you've ever wished you could hit 'reboot' and start fresh, then Reboot is living proof that second chances can be pretty wonderful. This sweet 7-8 year old Pekingese mix was rescued from a shelter and is now enjoying his very own system upgrade. While he may be a mature model, Reboot proves that older dogs still have plenty of love, personality, and happy adventures left to give.   Daily Operating System   Reboot starts his mornings between 7 and 8 a.m. with a trip to the backyard to take care of business, followed by breakfast. During the day, he either hangs out with his foster at the salon or relaxes at home, depending on the schedule. Dinner is served around 7 p.m., and he enjoys a nice walk around 6 p.m. to stretch his legs and check out the neighborhood. At bedtime, Reboot happily settles into his crate and sleeps through the night.   From Nervous New Arrival to Loyal Sidekick   When Reboot first arrived, he was understandably anxious and unsure of his new surroundings. While he's still happiest staying close to his person, he's grown significantly more confident with time. These days, he follows his foster from room to room, comes when called, gets excited the moment he spots his leash, and has even discovered the joy of play.   At first, cuddles weren't really his thing. Now, he's happy to accept affection, kisses, and snuggles from the person he trusts most. He can still be cautious around strangers and prefers to take introductions at his own pace, but once you're in his circle, you're there for life.   The Perfect Activity Level   Reboot strikes a wonderful balance between active and relaxed. He's not a marathon runner, but he's definitely not a couch potato either. He enjoys walks, likes being involved in whatever his person is doing, and will happily trot alongside you as you move around the house or yard. His favorite game isn't fetch—it's simply being part of the action.   Walking Buddy Extraordinaire   Reboot absolutely loves his daily walks. When he first arrived, he pulled on leash quite a bit, but he's improved tremendously and now walks much more politely. He doesn't chase squirrels or bark at other dogs. Instead, he's simply curious and alert when he sees other animals out and about.   Family-Friendly Companion   One of Reboot's most lovable qualities is how gentle he is with children. He does wonderfully with his foster's three- and four-year-old nieces and nephews, patiently allowing them to interact with him while staying calm and sweet. He may not be the type to engage in endless games of chase, but he's happy to be their gentle little shadow.   Why You'll Love Reboot   Reboot is the kind of dog who quietly works his way into your heart. He isn't flashy or demanding. Instead, he's loyal, affectionate, gentle with kids, and happiest simply being near the people he loves. His foster's favorite thing about him might be the adorable way his entire body seems to lift off the ground whenever he barks—it's impossible not to laugh.   If you're looking for a sweet companion who has successfully rebooted his life and is ready for a forever home, Reboot is ready to install himself right into your heart. June 16, 2026, 10:05 pm

Story
Yuri is about 18 months old and 10.5 pounds. She came from a hoarder, so she is still working on some things, but s he’s sweet and adorable. She loves to follow you around and snuggle. She loves walks and is great on leash. She’s surprisingly good with kids, and gets along with dogs of all sizes and is fine with cats. She’s not a biter!    Yuri seems like she was potty trained, and can hold it for a long period of time, but she is still working on where the right place to go is. Her adopter should expect to continue to work on it and be patient with this sweet little girl. She has a bit of separation anxiety so might not be the right dog for shared-wall living.  Yuri is a very picky eater, and her foster has learned some tricks to get her to eat which she will share with the adopter   Yuri would do great in a home with other dogs, particularly a confident one she can learn from. She might also like someone who works from home. But mostly she just needs someone patient, preferably with little dog experience. She just needs time and confidence and love!  Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Yuri is $300. If you are interested in adopting Yuri, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. See our other available dogs at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/available-dogs/ June 16, 2026, 5:39 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.sweet, gentle girlMeet Sol, a sweet and sensitive almost 3-year-old mixed breed girl who is finally getting the chance to discover how good life can be. After spending five long months in the local shelter, Sol recently joined SVPP and is settling into foster care. The shelter environment was overwhelming for her — loud, busy, and scary — but volunteers quickly noticed her true personality shining through whenever she got a break in the play yards or headed out on offsite adventures. In just a few short days with her foster dad, Sol has already shown what a lovely companion she is. She enjoys the company of other polite dogs and loves spending time near her humans, soaking up affection and companionship. While she may be a little shy at first, Sol’s gentle nature and quiet sweetness make her impossible not to fall for. As we continue learning more about Sol, one thing is already clear: she is ready for a fresh start filled with patience, love, and security. With the right family by her side, Sol is sure to blossom into a loyal and devoted best friend. Story
If there ever was a dog who needed human kindness and love, it is Ziggy. Ten-year-old Ziggy, a Poodle/Bichon mix, has spent much of his life being overlooked and neglected. When no other rescue was willing to step forward, CACC opened its doors, and its heart, to this deserving little dog. Years of neglect took a devastating toll. Ziggy lost his vision, most of his teeth, and faced several other medical challenges. Yet somehow, the hardships he endured never dimmed his sweet spirit. He still greets each day with trust, a wagging tail, and a heart full of love. After everything he has been through, Ziggy still chooses joy. He is a beautiful reminder of the resilience of dogs. Despite the difficult life he has known, Ziggy remains a gentle, affectionate soul who enjoys the company of people, other dogs, and likely even cats. He can be silly, playful, and even mischievous at times. Most of all, he loves being close to his people and sharing the simple happiness of everyday life. Ziggy adores curling up in a warm lap and is happiest when he";s simply included in whatever you're doing. He has learned to navigate the world without sight and adapts remarkably well to new environments. Once he learns the layout of a home, he moves around with surprising confidence, happily trotting toward the sound of a familiar voice. Blindness doesn"t define Ziggy; it is simply one small part of who he is. Fully potty trained, Ziggy sleeps soundly through the night in his x-pen without needing a potty break. Even more amazing, he is a very low-maintenance companion who requires only minimal accommodations for his blindness. His future family will simply need to help him gradually explore the outdoors and, most importantly, shower him with the love and affection he has gone without for far too long. These days, Ziggy finds joy in life's simplest pleasures: a tasty treat, a gentle cuddle, sniffing around the yard, or stretching out for a nap in a sunny spot. He doesn't need grand adventures or endless activity. What he longs for is a safe home, a soft bed, and someone whose voice he can learn by heart. For most of his life, Ziggy has known what it feels like to be unwanted. We want his next chapter to be different. We want him to know what it means to be cherished, protected, and deeply loved. What Ziggy wants most now is simple: comfort, companionship, and a family to call his own. In return, he offers the kind of devotion that only a grateful old soul can give. Though he cannot see the people who love him, he feels their kindness completely. If you have room in your heart for this extraordinary little dog, please let us know. Opening your home to Ziggy may be one of the most meaningful acts of kindness you'll ever make, and one of the most rewarding. Some dogs leave paw prints on your floor. Dogs like Ziggy leave paw prints on your heart forever.
