Story
Sugar is a devoted, gentle Pekingese who lives up to her sweet name. At 14 pounds and 9 years 9 months old, she's calm in the house, well-mannered, and happiest when she's right by her person's side. Since settling into her foster home, Sugar has adjusted beautifully and continues to show what a wonderful companion she is. She even enjoyed a spa day and was recently groomed, leaving her looking absolutely beautiful!Sugar is fully house-trained and does a great job letting you know when she needs to go outside. She has done wonderfully without a crate, especially with someone home most of the time, and has settled into a relaxed daily routine. Like many dogs, she came from a home where she was free-fed and enjoyed grazing throughout the day, so her meals are simply managed a little differently in a home with other dogs. Her favorite activity is going for walks, where she often leads the way and can easily handle a couple of miles. She's also done well on a tie-out in the yard. At home, she's calm and content, happily keeping her person company. She'll sit up on her haunches and gaze at you with big, expressive eyes when she's hoping for a treat. She loves belly rubs, ear scratches, and treats, but isn't interested in toys.Sugar enjoys meeting other dogs and would love to be part of a pack, even though she likes to act a little tough at first. She also has a bit of a watchdog streak and may bark to let everyone know she's on duty, especially when she heads outside. She does not have experience with cats or young children, so thoughtful introductions are recommended. If you're looking for a loyal companion to stroll by your side, keep you company around the house, and always be nearby, Sugar is ready to become your sweetest shadow and best friend. If you are interested in Sugar, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250.
