Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Buttercup is an adorable pup who is looking for a new home. She is currently with one of our sister rescues in Louisiana but hoping to come to NJ soon with an approved foster or adopter. Buttercup’s story almost didn’t have the happy turn it deserved—but thanks to a compassionate shelter volunteer and our incredible rescue partners, this little girl got her second chance. Buttercup is a 13-pound Pekingese/Beagle mix with a heart just as soft as her name. She was on her way to a rural shelter alongside her older sibling, Daisy, when someone stepped in and made sure she’d have a brighter future. Now, she’s ready to find a forever home of her own. This sweet girl is the perfect blend of affectionate and playful. She loves being close to her people, happily soaking up attention, but also has just the right amount of spunk to keep you smiling. Buttercup is wonderful with other dogs and adores people of all ages, including kids, making her an easy addition to many different types of homes. At just 13 pounds, she’s the ideal size for apartment or condo living—and she won’t get any bigger. She’s already leash-trained and crate-trained, making her an easy, low-stress companion to welcome into your life. If you’re looking for a loving little dog who will happily be your shadow, your cuddle buddy, and your daily dose of joy, Buttercup is ready to meet you. Apply to adopt Buttercup and give this deserving girl the forever home she’s been waiting for. Buttercup is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption donation is $600.  Adopting an animal is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these animals have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 1, 2026, 2:16 pm

Story
●Rescue Story Jjajang was rescued from the euthanasia list at Jeongeup City Shelter. Thanks to timely intervention, he was given a second chance at life and moved into a foster home, where he has been able to decompress and show his true, gentle personality. ●Temperament & Behavior Jjajang is a calm and sensitive dog who prefers a peaceful environment. He does not enjoy overly energetic or pushy dogs, regardless of their size. He may be able to coexist with another dog who has low energy or shows little interest in him, but he may be happiest as the only dog in the home. When he feels bothered, he communicates clearly by giving a soft growl as a “please stop” signal. His compatibility with cats has not yet been tested. With people, Jjajang is initially cautious. Sudden approaches or reaching out to touch him can be scary for him. However, if someone sits calmly nearby, he will often approach on his own and quietly ask for affection with gentle eye contact. ●Walking & Daily Life At first, Jjajang appeared timid on walks, but with consistent leash training, he now walks nicely beside his handler and matches their pace well. If startled, he may briefly crouch, but sitting down and softly calling his name helps him recover quickly. He loves sniffing during walks and is not food-driven outdoors. He navigates stairs well and is not significantly bothered by traffic noise. His shedding level is moderate, around 5 out of 10. He has no food allergies and is not a picky eater. ●Habits & Training Jjajang uses indoor pee pads reliably (100%) and also goes potty outdoors about 50% of the time. He accepts baths and brushing calmly without resistance. He does not have separation anxiety and is comfortable spending time alone. He is not a barker and remains quiet in the home. He rides well in the car and does not appear to experience motion sickness. ●Likes & Personality Jjajang is not particularly interested in toys and prefers quiet time resting on his own rather than high-energy play. He is easily startled by sudden approaches but becomes very affectionate once trust is built. He is currently living in a foster home.

Story
Meet Pudgie - 9 years young, 23 pounds of charm, and zero ounces of drama! This amazing Shepherd/Pekingese mix somehow manages to be gentle, enthusiastic, social, polite, and ridiculously lovable, all at the same time! Pudgie is respectful around other dogs, and fantastic with kids, adults, and seniors - - basically, if you have a pulse, Pudgie is your pal! He’s very friendly and attentive to his people, without being pushy or annoying. He simply wants to be near you…preferably while being scratched or pet…or both! Outdoorsy and fit, Pudgie loves going on walks and is pure perfection on a leash. He enjoys taking in the world around him, stopping to investigate interesting sights and smells, like a gleeful, curious explorer. His energy level is playful but civilized - - he’s happy to stroll, happy to hang, and happy to relax when the day is done. Pudgie is fully housebroken, not much of a barker, shares his toys and belongings like a gentleman, loves treats, likes toys, and has a healthy appetite. Pudgie does mark indoors, so he wears a belly band while inside the home. Easy fix, no biggie. Also, if he’s in the middle of eating something tasty, he prefers that you allow him adequate time to finish, as opposed to whisking it away from him - - which frankly, is very relatable. Pudgie is the ideal blend of upbeat yet calm, fun yet quiet, affectionate yet independent, and just an all-around really great dog. The kind you wonder how he hasn’t already been scooped up. Hint hint: Don’t wait too long! If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who will fit beautifully into just about any home, Pudgie is ready to waddle his way right into your heart!
