Story
MEET STEVIE! Stevie is an 8-10 year old Pekingese who was found running along a highway by the Philadelphia Police Department and brought to animal control. Stevie has had a chance to recover and has received a full veterinary catchup. She's now ready to land the perfect home! Stevie's personality doesn't match her small body. She's both snuggly and sweet while maintaining a level of independence. She'll happily snuggle up in your lap or next to you on the couch but will need some help getting up. She's not shy to use her voice and tends to be vocal when she needs to be, like when she needs to go potty of when she knows it's mealtime but doesn't bark excessively. She needed her coat shaved in order to address some serious matting but she's still sporting some serious fluff. She weighs around 13 lbs. so nice and easy to scoop up since stairs can be tricky for her short, senior body. Since joining the rescue, Stevie's had a cardiology workup to check on a murmur and to clear her for anesthesia. She received a dental cleaning with some extractions which has made eating both wet and dry food easier. In fact, eating is one of her favorite activities and she'll sing you a song and do some spins when she knows dinner is coming. Not uncommon for her breed type, Stevie can be a little possessive of her food and treats and prefers to eat away from the other pets in her foster home. She is currently living with other small dogs and will sometimes give appropriate corrections if they're too in her space, but otherwise mostly ignores them. We believe she'd be the same around cats. Stevie would probably do best in a home with older children who can respect her tiny stature and old lady vibes. Stevie is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! Meet Trixie! Trixie is a 5-year-old Bichon with a big personality packed into a tiny 11lb frame. She loves her daily walks and any excuse to spend time outside, showing off her pep in every step. When she’s not exploring, she loves looking at herself in the mirror—it’s clear she knows she’s adorable! Trixie has a wonderful appetite - though she doesn't have any teeth. She gets along well with other dogs, and is gentle with kids. While she isn’t very playful, she thrives on companionship and enjoys simply being part of the action. She isn’t house trained just yet, but with patience and routine, she’ll continue learning. This sweet girl walks beautifully on leash, requires regular grooming to keep her coat fluffy and fresh, and is ready to brighten her forever family’s days with her charm and affection. Meet April🐾, a 3-year-old, 9-pound Bichon with a heart as soft as her fluffy coat. Due to her past, April is learning that the world can be gentle—and she needs a patient, loving family to help her continue that journey. April is very timid and takes her time warming up, but once she trusts you, her sweetness shines. Because of April’s timidness, she looking for a family with children 10 and up. She also absolutely needs another friendly dog in the home to help her feel safe and confident. A fenced in yard is preferred so she can explore at her own pace, however this is not mandatory. April is still learning leash walking. She prefers spending her days lounging on soft dog beds right next to her foster brother. She loves to chew on bones and play with small toys but on her time. She does not enjoy a crate and currently sleeps in bed with her foster family. April has basically mastered potty training, however with changes regression can occur. Sweaters aren’t just for holidays for this girl, she enjoys being cozy and warm all year round. April is a tiny soul with SO much potential—she just needs the right family to show her she’s finally home. 💛 April is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
