Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     Super cuddly alert: 3.5y Purrsian Cosmo arrives Feb 26 from Saudi and is looking for his purrmanent home.History: found abandoned and in horrible shape (matted hair, infected ears, rotten teeth) begging to be helped. After treatment he spent days sleeping in bed which was heartbreaking because we felt he waited to be safe again for too long. He is a super gentle and kind soul. He is great with other cats and children. He loves to cuddle all the time and has a quiet nature so a quiet cat home with another quiet cat would be his ideal setting.   no health issues but he did have to have some of his teeth extracted  All kittens are adoptable in pairs only unless another age appropriate cat is in residence.  Most of our adult cats also like cat company (most fosters are multicat homes).  Please read the following article on cat food to see why no dry: www.catinfo.org  Facebook:Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   All cats are in the NY area.  Cats are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped.  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site      https://zanisfurryfriends.org      fill out an application and return to   cats@zanisfurryfriends.org   Please note: kittens must be adopted in pairs or to households with age appropriate cat(s) to ensure proper socialization and companionship. NO exceptions! If you would prefer a solo cat, we would be happy to recommend those cats who would do best as solo cats. All our cats are tested for feline leukemia and FIV, FVRCP and Rabies vaxed and also microchipped.   Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent.  Please ask by writing us at cats@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too. Please come! And if you can't adopt, foster or volunteer, you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Story
Otis is a sweet, gentle boy with a loving personality who enjoys the simple comforts of life—especially curling up in his favorite cat bed and relaxing near his people. He thrives in a calm, cozy environment where he can lounge, nap, and soak up affection. Otis is looking for a home without other cats. He does have a significant heart murmur due to underlying cardiac disease, and he is currently managed on a blood thinner to support his condition. He will need a dedicated caregiver who can continue his medication.Despite his medical need, Otis is a wonderful companion with a warm, easygoing nature, and he brings a quiet kind of joy to those around him.

Story
Meet Buttercup! Buttercup is about 3 years old and is the sweetest fluff ball around. Buttercup enjoys nothing more than snuggling and getting lots of pets from her favorite people. She loves climbing in laps, giving hugs, and making biscuits. Since Buttercup is such a social butterfly, she would enjoy a home where she gets plenty of love and attention. Buttercup would likely do fine with cat-savvy children who know to be gentle. She has also lived with cats before and would likely do well with a cat friend if introduced appropriately. Buttercup has never been around dogs but is generally social and confident. She may do well with a cat-savvy dog if provided a thoughtful introduction. Buttercup had a bout of poor appetite and weight loss in the shelter setting that has since resolved. We suspect this was caused by stress in a strange environment, as Buttercup has had no other medical concerns and has rebounded well in her foster home. Adopters should monitor for decreased appetite during times of transition or stress and follow up with their vet if concerns arise. Buttercup will also require regular grooming to maintain her fluffy coat and prevent matting. ⭐ Buttercup is the sweetest girl with so much love to give! She is currently in foster care, so if you’re interested in adopting, please fill out an adopter profile at www.parl.org/adopt and email foster@parl.org to set up a meet and greet. ⭐

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Say hello to Miss Garfield! 🧡 This petite young lady has quite the story - she was found as a stray during the big RI blizzard and has been finding her footing ever since. While big changes can feel overwhelming at first, Miss Garfield shines in a calm, stable environment. In her foster home, she showed just how much she can blossom when she feels safe and secure. Miss Garfield may be a little shy when you first meet her, especially in a busy shelter setting, but don’t let that fool you! Once she settles in and feels at home, she is sweet and affectionate. She enjoys attention and enjoys social time with her people, showing her sweet and loving personality more each day. She would do best in a peaceful home with a slow, thoughtful transition. Miss Garfield may do well with respectful, easygoing pets or older children/teens who understand how to give her the time and space she needs to adjust. She does have a history of urinary crystals, a common condition that is typically well managed with a prescription urinary diet and routine veterinary care. Her future family should be comfortable monitoring her litterbox habits and staying connected with their veterinarian to keep her feeling her best. Miss Garfield is a sweet fluff with the kind of love that starts quietly and grows into something truly special. If you have a calm home and a soft spot for a shy-but-affectionate companion, she might be the perfect fit for you. ⭐ Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Jonesy! 🖤 Jonesy is a lively, playful senior who proves that age is just a number! This chatty, charismatic guy loves to stay engaged—whether he’s batting at toys, exploring his space, or striking up a conversation with his favorite people. He enjoys companionship and attention, but like any true gentleman, he appreciates being able to choose when it’s time for affection. In a calm, stable home, Jonesy’s fun-loving personality really shines. He’s the kind of cat who will keep you entertained with his playful antics and then happily settle in nearby when he’s ready to relax. He’d do best in a quieter household without young children or other pets, though mellow animals who respect his space may be okay with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Jonesy has a history of hyperthyroidism, which is currently well managed with medication. He’s feeling great and enjoying life, but he’ll need an adopter who can stay on top of his care, including: • Daily medication • Routine veterinary checkups with periodic bloodwork • General senior wellness care • Regular brushing to keep his coat healthy and mat-free Jonesy is a wonderful mix of playful energy and seasoned charm, and he’s ready to spend his golden years bringing joy and companionship to a lucky home. ⭐ Jonesy is currently in foster care. If you’re interested in adopting, please fill out an adopter profile at www.parl.org/adopt and email foster@parl.org to set up a meet and greet. ⭐
