Story
Moe is a sweet, resilient boy who's come a long way on his journey to recovery. He arrived in our care after a skin infection, which stemmed from a flea infestation. Due to his intense reaction, Moe is suspected to have a flea allergy and will need to stay on regular flea prevention to stay comfortable and healthy. He would thrive as an indoor-only cat, which would also help minimize exposure to parasites. While Moe is now parasite-free, he still occasionally scratches at his skin and requires a bit more monitoring than your average feline. He's currently on a special diet to help manage his skin sensitivities. For this reason, we're looking for an adopter who can provide him with a bit of extra attention. Our team will happily walk through his care needs to ensure you're set up for success. Now that he's feeling better, Moe has blossomed into a cuddly, affectionate companion. He's quite the chatterbox when he wants attention, and loves curling up for cozy snuggles. One of his favorite pastimes is lounging in our catio, soaking up the sunshine and playfully watching ants. Moe may also benefit from the companionship of a mellow, female cat, as he's shown interest in a few of our female shelter cats. We believe Moe would be happiest in a home without dogs or small children, where he can feel safe and relaxed. If you're looking for a loyal friend who's overcome a tough start and is ready to love and be loved, Moe might just be your perfect match!***Thank you for your interest in adopting! Story
Meet Lou, a charming adult cat who's known for his sweet and friendly nature! Lou is a sweet and affectionate cat with a heart full of love. He has a special gift for making everyone around him feel cherished. Right now, Lou is recovering from an injury to one of his front legs and is looking for a calm, caring home where he can continue to rest and regain his strength.Lou has tested positive for regressive Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), a disease that affects cats and is typically spread through mating, bites, grooming, and pregnancy. While there is no cure for FeLV, a regressive infection means Lou's immune system has managed to contain the virus-though it hasn't been completely eliminated. This could lead to a few different outcomes: Lou might eventually clear the virus, it may stay in his system at low levels, or it could reactivate in the future and cause illness.Cats with regressive FeLV are generally unlikely to show symptoms or develop FeLV-related diseases. However, because of his condition, Lou needs to be the only cat in the home and must live strictly indoors to protect both his health and the health of other cats.Lou is ready to bring love into a home that can offer him the safety and care he needs to continue healing and thriving. He's a true social butterfly, perfectly comfortable in the company of respectful children. Lou's gentle demeanor makes him an ideal family pet. He's patient, understanding, and always up for a good cuddle. When you welcome Lou into your home, you're not just getting a pet, you're gaining a loyal friend. Adopt Lou and experience the joy of his unending love and companionship.Apply Below!https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/cat-pre-adoption-questionnaire/The Victoria Center is open for in-person adoption viewings Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, staff and animal well-being permitting. Some animals may not be viewable due to limited shelter space, medical and behavioral reasons, or other contributing factors. Story
Meet Pepper! This once-gruff senior is finally ready for adoption! After over a month in care, Pepper is slowly learning to embrace the retired lifestyle. Could you be the perfect match? A lover of lap time, Pepper enjoys gentle chin, cheek, and neck scratches, couch naps, and burrowing under blankets. He's playful (wand toys and catnip bananas are favorites!), a great self-groomer, and a skilled leaper. He'd love having a cozy windowsill or cat tree in which to snooze -- no floor beds required!Pepper is prone to overstimulation -- particularly during long petting sessions, so an adopter who can read feline body language is key. He's scared of loud noises like vacuums and lawnmowers, so a peaceful environment is essential. No small children or dogs. He's also on a prescription diet for urinary crystals and uses clumping clay litter. Shelter staff will discuss his health needs in depth with prospective adopters to ensure they are set up for success.Pepper would do best as the only pet and may enjoy access to a catio in the future. Are you the cat-savvy soulmate he's been waiting for?***Keep your new family member safe and keep them inside! Consider investing in a catio or "cat-proofing" your balcony/deck. Leash-training, or letting your cat tag along in a pet backpack, are other safe options for outdoor-loving felines.***Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Pepper's person? Apply today!TIP: We encourage all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Kitten and puppy meet and greets are by application only.Due to the high number of applications, we will ONLY be following-up with the chosen adopter. If you do not hear back within a week, it's likely the animal has already found a forever home. Phone inquires and emails regarding the status of your application cannot always be prioritized.
