You don't often hear of a cat surviving after being hit by a car. Well, Spot did. Although, now she is paralyzed and has very little function in her back legs. (Sidenote! Email us at pets@michianapets.org to request an application. Spot is in a foster home!) We were not sure if Spot was going to be able to make it through her trauma. But each day, she was getting stronger, healing more and was proving to be the absolute sweetest and most loving girl. We were so grateful to be able to give her a second chance. Spot needed a foster home because the kennel-life was not a fit for her. Her foster family is amazing and they created a bag that goes around her waist so she can "walk" around without getting abrasions and wounds on her back legs. Spot was not remotely interested in a wheelchair; her little drag-bag allows her to be just as mobile and she is totally succeeding! Here is a note from her foster mom: "Spot is a one-year-old spayed bundle of love and curiosity. Spot is an incredibly affectionate girl who wants nothing more than to be by your side (or better yet, in your lap). She will happily curl up for hours, purring and chatting away with her soft, sweet meows. She truly loves to “talk.” Spot’s favorite toys are anything with feathers, and she’s wonderful with dogs of all sizes. Despite losing the use of her back legs, Spot hasn’t lost her joyful spirit or her zest for life. She has adapted beautifully and gets around with ease, always eager to explore, cuddle, and make friends. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will fill your home with love, warmth, and a little chatter, Spot is your girl. She is full of curiosity, joy, and nonstop purrs. Of course, Spot is the perfect girl so she makes everything easy on us.

This darling beauty is Cindy. She is a little under nine months old and is spayed. When she arrived in January, she was very sick with a severe upper respiratory infection, eye infections and she was quite underweight. Let us tell you—she is a nonstop biscuit-maker! Her paws are ALWAYS kneading! We've even see her make air biscuits when she is being held. She is simply precious. Cindy spent some time healing in a foster home and now she is feeling much better! We also learned a lot about her from her time in foster! Here is a note from her foster mom: "Cindy is affectionate. She likes to give kisses and knows what that means when prompted. She wants to be wherever her people are and will be a lap cat. She likes to be picked up and held. She is very playful and very social with other welcoming cats and enjoys their company. She loves to chase little toys and balls. Cindy would be most comfortable in a home without dog friends. She likes people and I can see her doing well with children. She loves Friskies wet food. While she will eat all flavors, Ocean and Farm Favorites are her faves. She is a big eater, ha ha! We observed her eating the bulk of her food during the night. She would pick at it during the day, but tended to eat most of it during the night. She is quite talkative and chirps. She always has something to say, ha ha. Brickle is our beautiful senior buff tabby babe. She is a little under twelve years old, is spayed, is a bit adorably cross-eyed and she loves playing with pipe cleaners! Gazing out the window while soaking up warmth from sunshine rays are two of her favorite pastimes combined! You can think of her as an interactive, curious, ridiculously cute, lazy gal. She will chat with you about her day and loves to play with anything on strings or wand toys. Brickle has always lived with adults so we'd love for her new home to be similar! We could see her doing best in a quiet environment where she can continue to live a relaxed lifestyle. She has also lived in a home with a larger dog. Depending on the resident cat, she may do well! We've learned that Brickle has sensitive ears. She is prone to ear infections and needs an adopter who will not only be cognizant that her ears may be painful but who will also make sure she sees the vet when needed. As our breakroom kitty, you won't find her up in the main adoption room! Please ask us to see her when you arrive!
