“Hurricane Joe”? Is that me? Is that why I have the wounds on my head, shoulders, and legs? It IS the name of one of the many books in Franklin W. Dixon’s Hardy Boy Mystery series. I am named after the younger of the two brothers in the famous series. I was living outdoors with my brother Frank when we were found in Austin. Life is tough when you’re living rough. I am being treated for my wounds to prevent infection. We were relieved and happy to be fed, and our finder said that we liked playing with toys. She said we really need to be in a home where someone will take good care of us. Frank and I were nervous when we got here and startled at sudden movements, but we’re friendly, affectionate guys. We both love pets. After all we’ve been through together, we’ve become bonded to each other. We’d like to be adopted together. Who could split up the Hardy Boys?! “Nothing can dim the light that shines from within.” – Maya Angelou. My name, Ellie, means “bright, shining one.” I tend to be nervous in unfamiliar places. I am only about a year old and was a stray who had become shut in a warehouse. My rescuer said that I am a quiet girl who likes listening to music and to people’s voices. Although I was scared when I arrived at the shelter, I would come to the front of my kennel and allow petting and stroking with the stick part of a wand toy. I will need some time to settle in, but maybe if people take time to speak to me and maybe play some pretty music for me, I will feel safe and calm. That will help bring out the light I have inside me, for I am Ellie, a bright, shining, beautiful girl. Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax

In the picture books angels have wings and halos. But some angels have whiskers, fur, and paws. I’m Angelica, a 4-year-old, tabby kitty who came to Paws and Claws from a rescue partner back in February! I may have been overlooked because it took me a while to settle in, and I’m not really a “lap cat.” That doesn’t mean I’m not a sweet, lovable girl. I am! I used to swat, but I don’t do that anymore. I’m much more content now. I like being petted. Will you pet me? Guess what else I like! I like running water! I walk back and forth on the counter drinking water out of the faucet as I pass by. I’ll even jump into the sink while the water is running! I don’t mind getting all wet. What’s not to love about a cat with a personality like mine? How about this: You can be my guardian angel, and I will be your sweet Angelica kitty! I do have some special health needs. Anyone interested in adopting me should speak to an adoption counselor to get more information. Apply online to adopt Angelica.Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax
