APPLICATION: If this dog has stolen your heart, don't wait! Please apply online now to be considered as a potential adopter. NAME, GENDER, AGE WEIGHT & BREED DOG: MYSTIC GENDER: FEMALE DOB: 11-13-22 APPROX WEIGHT: 50 approx BREED: Plot Hound Mix LOCATION: Delhi, LA ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport) RESCUE STORY: Every so often we come across an unfortunate situation and we are compelled to help. It is not abandonment or neglect; it is simply a loving pet owner that can no longer care for their pet. We are so happy when they reach out to us so that we may help find the pup a new, loving home instead of being turned into a shelter where, sadly, their fate is commonly not a good one. Turning in a dog is by no means easy on the human, but the dog also goes through a lot of stress and feelings of loss. They just don’t understand why they were taken from their home and their people. Mystic is going through this right now, and we are in search of new people for her, people who will be just as lucky to get her as she is them. PERSONALITY: Mystic is a beautiful Plot Hound Mix with silky brindle fur that looks like a tiger, and a delightful personality to boot! Foster mom says she is super sweet and very smart. Mystic is young and energetic and would absolutely love a young couple to hike with or a family with children to play with (we ALWAYS stress, however, that young children and dogs should never be left unsupervised for the safety of both). ABOUT THE BREED: When it comes to the personality, the Plott Hounds are confident, courageous and bright dogs. In addition to it, their kind nature attracts the attention of the people. Hounds are one of the most popular breeds in the USA because they are loyal, loving, affectionate and patient, making great family dogs. Plott Hounds will defend their owners from perceived threats. And early socialization is imperative to prevent this trait from getting out of hand. This breed is also fantastic watchdogs. Plott Hounds are incredibly brave. They were bred to hunt massive animals such as bears, so they will not back down from any person or dog no matter the size. The Hounds are known to fit perfectly into family life with its sweet, peaceful and gentle nature. These dogs are well behaved and always friendly. They are not aggressive to people and other animals. They will happily welcome your guests with a tail wag. This breed is just as happy lounging around the house. They are extremely affectionate with all the family members and have an average activity level. The Plott Hound has a curious and playful temperament. Firstly, these dogs are loyal and smart. Moreover, they love to please their people and be along with them every-time possible. Overall, the Plott Hounds are people-oriented dogs that behave very well with their family members. Though the Plott Hounds are loyal and affectionate with their people, they are somewhat wary of strangers. And they are likely to bark at them at first. But when properly introduced, they get along very quickly. Lastly, the independent and stubborn nature of them play a huge role while training. CHILDREN: Yes, the Plott Hounds have a good reputation when it comes to dealing with kids. However, these dogs are better with older children who know how to treat dogs better. And this means they are not suited for younger kids. These dogs can become very possessive of their food items. To conclude, the Plott Hounds are only recommended for families with older children. WHY THE PLOTT HOUND? The Plott Hound is a fabulous pet for dog savvy owners. The Plott Hound temperament makes it a challenging choice for beginners, but if you are an experienced guardian and you are looking for a fiercely loyal companion, the Plott Hound might be the dog for you. Mystic had a loving owner and is now in search of a new forever home to call her own. If you think Mystic might be the right addition to your family, please give her a chance. She is such a wonderful girl!

Oh my! We are suckers for a brindle coat and a story. Throw in puppy eyes and, well…you get it. Let me introduce you Eyeore, the Plott Hound pup that came to our Rescue from Georgia. He was picked up by Animal Control as stray. He was a little baby, and had no one. He also had a huge gash on his neck. Eyeore was taken to a Vet clinic where he was Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and the wound on his neck healed. Eyeore is a sweet pup who is healthy, playful, dog, cat and people friendly and so deserving of a home. This litter of 10 pups, 4 beautiful girls and 6 handsome boys, are sweet and lovable. We are thinking these precious pups are Plott Hound mixes. The Plott Hound is a large scent hound, originally bred for hunting bears and are the official state dog of North Carolina. The pups are great around all of us adult humans and think they would be good with older school age kids and teens. Tonka and Mack are the shyest pups in the litter and may take some time to warm up. They all are great around other dogs and hear they are good around cats too! Being just puppies, they will have so much to learn! They'll need house training, crate training and will need to learn to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the pups. Woodstock would love to find a forever family that has lots of time and patience to raise a puppy properly, and who has lots of extra time for loving and cuddles. If you are looking for a puppy, Woodstock, or one of his littermates. may be perfect for you! Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family! Plott litter story: The pups where found abandoned outside a shelter and their mom was not found.  Woodstock is one of four of the pups in this litter that had been living in the prison program until recently.  He and his littermates had 98 women in the unit always wanting to play with them and hold them. These dogs were living in the cat building so they would also play with 28 cats and kittens and one very large angry cat who was not amused with puppies. They learned to respect the cats and their kittens. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor. April 30, 2024, 4:49 pm

APPLICATION: If this dog has stolen your heart, don't wait! Please apply online now to be considered as a potential adopter. NAME, GENDER, AGE WEIGHT & BREED DOG: SWEETIE GENDER: FEMALE DOB: 11-30-22 approx. WEIGHT: 30 approx. BREED: Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Mix LOCATION: Delhi, LA ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport) RESCUE STORY Kaylee, our foster’s oldest granddaughter, was with her one day and they saw a dog on the side of the road—she was lovingly obedient and was waiting for the person that dumped her to come back and pick her up. This was not the first time they saw the dog, so Kaylee begged her grandma to turn around and go back. Kaylee gently picked her up and put her in the car—of course they brought her home. It was obvious that this dog was abandoned; they noticed that people had been feeding her with scraps that were on the side of the road. However, Kaylee was very worried that she was going to get hit. Kaylee named her “Sweetie”, she is probably about nine months old and she’s heartworm negative. She’s already on prevention and she’s had all her vaccinations. She just needs to be spayed which we can get done as soon as possible. Sweetie is very grateful and appreciative. She knows that she’s been rescued and she’s obviously a good dog. PERSONALITY Sweetie is a beautiful Catahoula Cur mix. She was blessed with all the gorgeous markings and rich colors on her coat. She is the still a typical “baby” and she craves love, attention, and safety. According to foster mom, she is super friendly, and warms right up to anyone that is dishing out love. She has a sweet disposition and has an all-around sweet nature. She keeps right up with her foster siblings, running, playing, and rolling around the grass enjoying all the silly antics going on. Patricia, her foster mom, tells us that she is not sure how she would be with the cats if left unattended. She is very good-natured, so happy to feel healthy again, eager to learn all about her new life and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. CHILDREN Sweetie is very friendly loves kids and gets along with all other dogs, however, she is still a puppy, she gets along with anyone. Children will love to run and play with her, but we always strongly suggest that no dog, young or old, should ever be left unsupervised with children until everyone is very comfortable in all situations. ABOUT THE BREED When considering adding a new member to the family it is important to research breeds so that everyone, including the new pup, is comfortable and happy. The Catahoula Cur is a loyal, independent, and watchful breed. They are a medium-large, short-coated dog, known for its many varied coat and eye colors and patterns. Catahoula’s are the only breed of dog to have historically originated in the state of Louisiana. They are affectionate, loyal, gentle, watchdogs and of course as loyal companions. The Catahoula Cur is also an intelligent, hardworking, and loyal dog breed, which makes it a dependable addition to many families. They love the great outdoors and are the ideal dog for owners who like to explore nature and stay active. We are looking forward to finding Sweetie her forever home, so that this chapter will close for her. We want her to live a life of love and happiness with her new family. Her rough beginning is in the past, she is a delight, and will make a wonderful companion for a family looking to offer her a loving home. She has been given a great start with her foster family, they restored her confidence in humans and gave her the love and security she needed. If you think Sweetie would be a good fit for your family, she will absolutely bring you years of love, joy, companionship, and lots of fun, too!
