Story
*Plotthound*8 mos old; 23lbs (very thin)*Very sweet, kind, polite, loving girl. Dog social. Mom is Petunia. `She`s adorable.` `Oh, my goodness.  I love her.  So kind and gentle and snuggly plus.`  `Friendly and welcoming,  I love her slender little frame and more pointy nose.`  `She`s so cute and a favorite of mine.  She`s easy to walk and she kisses me a lot.`   Just a few notes of endorsement on our prettiest of brindle girls PANSY!  Pansy is super sweet, kind, very gentle in her ways and so easy going and mild mannered.  She led a more challenging lifestyle and arrived very waiflike.    She`s made herself at home and her chin is up, she`s adding some pounds to her frame and she`s ready for you!  She`s a bit meek/overwhelmed (for now) in play groups but she`s definitely dog social.   We feel she`ll rise to the occasion and get into the play group mode as we continue to include her in this enriching program.  Here with her mom PETUNIA,  she is the spitting image of her and truly,  the apple has not fallen far from her momma as Petunia has the same incredible, gentle vibe as well.  Come see Pansy and while you`re at it, Mom Petunia.Foster update Aug 5: She is a very loving young female. She clings to her humans but also finds time to interact and play with the resident dogs. After one week at my house, she has settled in very well. She is crate trained. We are working on the housetraining but I don`t think that will take long due to her mentor dogs. She walks great on a leash, and will jump right into the car when prompted, displaying the fast learner that she is. She listens well to corrections. In fact, she slipped out of the gate in the back yard and I immediately called for her to come back to which she quickly obeyed. She`s always willing to give and receive love. She becomes more comfortable every day and I am so proud of her improvement from becoming a very scared youngster to where she is now. And she`s a petite 24 lbs so can be picked up if need be.

Tall, lean and most leggy.  Beautiful too!!  Introducing our prettiest of pretty girls FLO!!   Flo will have you at `Hello.`  Our super friendly, appealing and most welcoming girl is eager to meet you.  Found as a stray,  we`re shaking our heads wondering how/why no one has come for our very dark brown beauty but perhaps the plan all along was for her to add to your life.   Flo loves being near her person so be forewarned that when you take a seat,  at a minimum her paws are in your lap.  Might her whole body fit in your lap?  Well, that`s for you 2 to work out!  LOL.   Flo is social, loving and will make an excellent companion pet.  Is our 50lbs model ready doggy the right one for you?  Please come and see for yourself.

Story
Meet Boone Boone is an absolutely stunning young dog. We rescued him from a high kill shelter. We think Boone is a Plott hound mix, possibly Tennesee Treeing Hound based on his overall looks and ears. He came in to us as an older puppy and sadly, he is still with us after over five years. Boone is almost 6 years old and is 57 lbs of muscle and heart. Since arriving Boone has been a gentleman dog. He’s really friendly. He’s energetic, but it’s not frenetic activity. Boone is polite and rather calm, especially considering how long he has been confined to a shelter. He walks great on a leash, and loves being out of his kennel to enjoy the companionship of his person. Boone will make for a great hiker. This breed is known for its stamina, endurance and agility. They can be all business and focused when working or engaged in training, but when at home they are mellow and enjoy the downtime. Boone is definitely a staff favorite and our hearts are broken that he has been with us so long. Boone is smart and alert. He will do best in an active home where he is physically and mentally occupied. He seems to like other dogs and but is not a fan of cats. Boone hopes to get his chance to go home, and he is going to make for a wonderful companion and will be loyal to his people. If you are looking for a fun, sweet and active boy, not to mention incredibly handsome, Boone may be the one for you. If interested in Boone, please submit an application on the homepage of this website www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to verify that we received your application. . All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Marmalade! This sweet senior girl is looking for that special someone to give her a new life, and teach her that she can be in the world as a confident queen! She needs to be loved on and spoiled so much that she forgets what life was like when she was shy! She was found abandoned and afraid, with too many ribs showing! We are working on getting her fattened up and comfortable. She is starting to gain a lot of confidence with the shelter staff, and likes chin scratchies, peanut butter and lots of treats! If you`re looking for a tall and slender, brindle beauty queen, then look no further than Marmalade! Come meet her soon @ Anderson County PAWS! Open M, T, Th, F, S 12pm-5pm
