Story
Meet Shadow Shadow is a beautiful Plott hound who's almost a year old. She is wonderfully adorable. Shadow is a dark brindle girl. It’s hard to see how gorgeous her short-haired coat is in pictures, but in the sunshine it’s stunning. And then when she looks at you with her big brown eyes, your heart will melt. She is sweet, affectionate, energetic, friendly, curious, outgoing, and athletic. Shadow will do great in an active home with kids or with a person/people who love to go hiking, running, or take long walks in the neighborhood. She is up for most any activity. She walks well on a leash. She wants to go go go; some of that is being a puppy and some is being a Plott hound, always with a nose to the ground exploring. Shadow is smart and eager to please. Shadow loves playing with other dogs and another active dog in the home would be great for her. She can also be the only dog but exercising her will be important to for her physical and mental health. Shadow is also cat friendly. This girl is a social butterfly. Shadow will make for a wonderful companion. We’ve all fallen in love with her. She gives slow motion hugs when she's unsure of a new situation, and looks to her human companion for guidance and reassurance. She is a perfect age and ready to go. We expect her to be a medium size girl when she’s all grown up, not too big, but just right. If interested in giving Shadow a loving home and a second chance, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Boone Boone is an absolutely stunning young dog. We rescued him from a high kill shelter. We think Boone is a Plott hound mix, possibly Tennesee Treeing Hound based on his overall looks and ears. He came in to us as an older puppy and sadly, he is still with us after over five years. Boone is just over 5 1/2 years old and is 57 lbs of muscle and heart. Since arriving Boone has been a gentleman dog. He’s really friendly. He’s energetic, but it’s not frenetic activity. Boone is polite and rather calm, especially considering how long he has been confined to a shelter. He walks great on a leash, and loves being out of his kennel to enjoy the companionship of his person. Boone will make for a great hiker. This breed is known for its stamina, endurance and agility. They can be all business and focused when working or engaged in training, but when at home they are mellow and enjoy the downtime. Boone is definitely a staff favorite and our hearts are broken that he has been with us so long. Boone is smart and alert. He will do best in an active home where he is physically and mentally occupied. He seems to like other dogs and seems to be cat friendly. Boone settles in and his personality comes out more every day. He is going to make for a wonderful companion and will be loyal to his people. If you are looking for a fun, sweet and active boy, not to mention incredibly handsome, Boone may be the one for you. If interested in Boone, please submit an application on the homepage of this website www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to verify that we received your application. . Story
Meet Franklin!! Franklin had a rough start to life, but times are a changing for this handsome boy! Backstory:  His humans moved and left Franklin along with 8 or 9 siblings - only two are known to have survived. Franklin is a testimony to the resiliency of dogs. He loves to be loved. He's submissive and adores belly rubs. His foster mom describes him as very mild tempered. We are so grateful for foster families who open their homes even when the situation isn't ideal. Their dogs aren't always welcoming to new pups, but the family is taking it slow and Franklin is handling it like a champ. He’s super loving and just wants to lay on the couch and cuddle. We doubt Franklin has ever been inside a house and was hesitant to enter. With winter bearing down on us, we’re beyond happy he is no longer living outside. Because Franklin never knew where his next meal was coming from, he's showing a little food aggression which is understandable and can be managed.  Foster mom and dad are working on potty training. Franklin goes outside frequently and has has no accidents in the house. Franklin would be fine in a household with kids & other dogs. He hasn’t been around cats. Franklin is approximately 2-3 years old and weighs around 60 lbs but is on the thin side, neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting/foster to adopt or adopting Franklin, please submit as adoption application. ##2268002##

Story
Meet Figgy! Figgy is a gentle 1-year-old boy who has already shown incredible resilience. He came to us very skinny and malnourished, but even after everything he’s endured, Figgy’s heart is full of love. He is one of the sweetest, most trusting souls you’ll ever meet. With proper care, good food, and lots of affection, Figgy is steadily gaining weight and discovering what it feels like to be safe. He enjoys soft pets, quiet moments, and is slowly beginning to explore playtime as he builds his strength. Still young and eager to learn, Figgy is ready to form a deep bond with someone who will give him the warm, stable home he deserves. If you’re looking to make a real difference in a dog’s life while gaining a loyal, loving companion, Figgy is waiting for you at Anderson County PAWS open Mon, Tue, Thru, Fri, and Sat 12--5 PM!! This boy’s past may have been difficult, but his future is bright — could you be the one to give Figgy his happy ending?

Story
Bodhi showed up at a relatives home a few months ago. He’s very intelligent and leash trained. He sits in command and will occasionally shake. He’s very loving and wants to be cuddled. He plays fetch and returns the ball or stick. He’s a happy boy but I have an older intact male and they are competing with marking their territory in the house. Because of this, I am unable to keep him. I do love him though and want him to go to a loving home!!
