Story
Meet Cobalt  — A Loyal, Outdoorsy Best Friend Looking for His Person Cobalt is a smart, affectionate, housetrained boy who wants nothing more than to be someone’s devoted companion. He’s crate trained, stranger friendly, and knows several basic commands. Once he bonds with you, he becomes the kind of dog who follows you from room to room, curls up beside you on the couch, and happily joins you for every adventure. What Makes Cobalt Special  Housebroken & Litter Trained — Reliable indoors, though he may have accidents if he’s anxious or left without attention for long periods. Crate Trained — Will go into his crate with verbal cues only. Friendly With New People — Greets strangers with a wagging tail and an open heart. Great Recall — Can be trusted to run on property and return to voice commands in most situations. Outdoor Companion — Loves exploring, roaming safely on land, and being part of your outdoor hobbies. Cuddly & Affectionate — A big lap dog at heart who wants to be close to his person. Smart & Trainable — Knows commands and responds well to structure. Independent Yard Explorer — Enjoys digging and spending time outside, especially on a decentsized property. His Ideal Home  Cobalt thrives with: An adult or experienced owner who understands dog body language and can give him consistent guidance. A home without young children (under 10), simply because he can mirror perceived aggression or roughness. A calm, respectful environment where he can feel safe and understood. A fenced property or land where he can run, explore, and enjoy freedom safely. Someone who wants a true companion — he bonds deeply and wants to be part of your daily life. He has successfully lived with a cat and could do so again, but he should be the only dog in the home. He can be protective of food around other animals or in hightraffic areas, so a simple feeding routine in a quiet space works best. Behavior Notes Cobalt is sensitive. If he perceives roughness or conflict, he may respond with bluff nips. He also plays enthusiastically and may accidentally bump your hand with his teeth when toys are involved. He does experience separation anxiety, especially when kenneled, and may bark or try to escape if left alone too long. He does best with someone who is home often or enjoys bringing their dog along for outings. Why You’ll Love Him  Cobalt is the definition of a “heart dog” — loyal, expressive, eager to please, and happiest when he’s by your side. He wants to be someone’s best friend, adventure buddy, and couch companion. If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you, follow you, and share your hobbies, Cobalt will give you his whole heart.   The suggested adoption donation for Cobalt is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for theirpet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. ##2753555##

Story
Annie was found abandoned a few years back wandering through the woods emaciated and starving. She has spent the last few years getting healthy and learning how to dog again after being in survival mode. She is a loveable dog and couch potato. Has had no issues being around other dogs, cats, people, and even chickens. She's a senior dog, but no clue on age. Looking for her forever home as we are currently going through a divorce and moving out of the area. Located in Dubuque.

Story
I rescued Cobalt from a shelter who said he was 11 months old in spring 2021. He had some training when I got him, basically house trained but did mess the floor in transition and probably would again. I was hoping he would hunt for me but have found out that I'm not a dog lover. Issues have escalated and he will be at a shelter very soon if nobody takes him. He is a giant lap dog and loves his pets, scratches and snuggles way more than I like giving them. He demands attention but if you like giving it to him that probably won't be an issue. He'd love a larger property that we don't have, he's a digger so a fence alone would not confine him if he gets bored. He doesn't do well with other dogs, in particular little dogs and probably shouldn't be around small children. He's fine with older kids or teenagers. He comes with all his stuff as I won't be getting another dog.

Daisy came to us with her puppies and proved to be the gentlest, most devoted mama. She raised her babies with so much love, and now it’s finally her turn to find a forever home of her own. This sweet girl can be a little shy at first, but she warms up quickly—especially if you have treats to share! Daisy is great with other dogs, crate trained, and has the softest, most loving spirit. Story
Hello there, sorry for the wait ... My name is Doc and I'm here to see YOU actually! Let's see now, you say you're experiencing the lack of a fun loving companion dog in your life? You need to get out and go on walks more? And you say here that you have a huge backyard but no one to play in it with? These symptoms lead me to believe you're suffering from INAD syndrome ... also known as "I need a dog disease." and we have JUST the cure for you!!! I am a DOC :) Well, I think I can prescribe you something that'll help reduce these symptoms and get you back on track to healthy living.... here is what one of my admirers has to say about me ;) "Doc is a super playful dude and is soo happy to meet everyone he sees and just is an overall bouncing bundle of joy. He loves walks, pets and scratches, and loves to do sprints with you. When you're walking he will walk slightly ahead of you and is super excited to meet everyone. He'll try to pull but once he realizes you are not coming too fast he will do this cute little hop thing where he bounces between his front paws and his back paws, its adorable" That is quite an admirer, right??? If you'll just go ahead and sign here on my adoption papers, we can get started right now on your treatment!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
