I came from somewhere, no one really knows where, and I ended up at the pound, somehow.... So i was actually adopted as a cute puppy from the pound..... and THEN 5 months later... I was saved at a busy intersection with a badly injured back leg.... no "family" around :( SO, luckily I was saved by a RESCUER!!! I mean, what are the odds?? Hello there, I'm Cletus. I was found roaming. I will be on a 5 day stray hold until 9/30 in case my owners come forward. I'm around 10 years old and look to be a Plott Hound/Heeler mix but the shelter doesn't know for sure. I've been around the block a few times, seen a thing or two. I'm an old soul, calm as a summer breeze. I enjoy slow walks, sunbathing, and a good belly rub. I'm all about companionship and taking it easy. I'm a friend who'll be by your side, a steady presence to brighten your days. If you're looking for a faithful friend with a gentle spirit, I'm your guy. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! Zu is 6.5 years old and was adopted when he was a puppy. In the house he is a quiet and cuddly dog. He is kennel trained and responds well to treats. In the past he has lived as a lone dog with two cats on a farm, alone in a house, and also in an apartment with another dog. He has done best with the first two; apartments have too many strangers. He loves some yard and loves to fetch sticks and balls. Traveling and relocation are reasons he is looking for a home and would do better with more companion time; he would likely do well with someone that has evenings with him or even with another friendly dog. He likes to stay in the house/ in his own yard and play and cuddle.
