With her stunning dark brindle coat, long legs, and spunky spirit, this Plott Hound/Shepherd mix has all the makings of a superstar. At 71 pounds, she’s a big, bold girl who knows what she wants—and she’s looking for the right person to love her for it.A few things to know about Kitty:- She’s powerful and energetic, happiest when she’s outside exploring the world- Knows her basics—“sit,” “down,” and “come”—and responds well to redirection- Can be pushy when she wants attention (we call it her “supermodel diva side”)- Playful, sometimes a little rough, but quick to learn what’s expected of her- With other dogs, she’ll need slow, careful introductions and multiple meetingsKitty Would Love a Home With:- Adults only—she’s best suited for a household without young kids- A family ready to give her structure, patience, and lots of exercise- A yard or plenty of walks where she can stretch those long legs and show off her strutKitty is equal parts beauty and brains, with a big personality to match. She’ll thrive with someone who appreciates her spunk, gives her the consistency she needs, and loves her fiercely. Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal:Meet Peter – Our Sweet, Shy ExplorerAt just 1 year old, Peter is a Plott hound mix with a curious nose, a gentle spirit, and a lot of puppy energy still to grow through. He may be shy at first, but give him a little time and he’ll show you the playful, affectionate pup hiding behind those soulful eyes.Who is Peter? Peter is an active, independent little guy who loves exploring the world around him. On walks, he can pull with excitement, but he relaxes once he gets into the rhythm. Indoors, he’s more focused—though still learning how to redirect his curiosity. With people, he can be a little hesitant at first, sometimes barking when meeting new faces, but he warms up quickly and enjoys gentle affection once he feels safe. Some of his favorite things include:- Exploring every new scent outdoors- Independent playtime with toys- Tasty treats—he’s very food motivated- Showing off his “sit” and “come” (especially when food is involved!)Because Peter is young and still learning, he sometimes has a hard time giving up toys or his food dish. But he responds well to a “trade” and has already shown he’s eager to learn with the right encouragement.Peter Would Do Best In a Home That Offers:- Kids around 12+ who understand a shy pup’s boundaries- A doggy friend could be a match (introductions on a case-by-case basis)- Patience, training, and positive reinforcement to help him gain confidence- Regular walks, playtime, and consistency to burn energy and build trustPeter may be a little unsure of new things, but he’s resilient, loving, and ready to bond with someone who believes in him. With guidance, this shy boy will grow into the loyal companion he’s meant to be.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Peter is an energetic young dog full of curiosity. He loved exploring the shelter grounds, but it`s challenging to redirect his focus. He pulled on the leash initially, relaxing as we walked. Inside, he impro
