Bring treats when you meet Jessica, and you will quickly have a pretty, entertaining, and snuggly best friend. She doesn't have much use for toys, but does enjoy being outdoors sharing time with you. She already has nice manners, but is smart enough to learn more - especially when it means extra treats! She already responds to sit, crates nicely, and is decent on leash. You know when she is happy by her little dance, endearing smile, and the sparkle in her beautiful gold eyes. Jessica is a little jumpy at quick movements, so we suggest no kids at that erratic age. She has done well with other dogs at the shelter who don't mind her play acrobatics. Oliver is a 7 year old Great Dane/ Pointer mix that weighs about 70 lbs! Oliver is good with dogs and kids of all ages but is not a friend of cats! He is working hard on perfecting his sit, stay, kennel and no jumping commands as well as crate training and housebreaking! Oliver came to the rescue as a small puppy as one of a litter of 11 that was left in a box next to a mail box at only about 10 days old! While almost all of his other siblings found homes immediately Oliver was looked over. He is a big boy with lots of energy and is still waiting for his forever home! Owen is 7 year old Great Dane/ Pointer mix! He weighs about 65 lb and while he is big he is just a goof ball! He is well trained and knows sit, stay, kennel, and no jumping commands as well as being crate trained, leash trained and is HOUSEBROKEN!!! Owen is great with other dogs and kids of all ages! He is not good with cats and other small prey animals. He loves playing fetch and is great with his recall.  Owen came to the rescue after being abandoned in a box, beside a mailbox, at just 10 days old with 10 other siblings! Almost all of the puppies found homes quickly, but for some reason, this awesome boy has been passed over many times. Kermit is a sweet loving guy that just wants to please his humans. He is good with the other dogs at the rescue. Sadly Kermit was adopted by an older couple and couldn't give him the kind of attention and exercise that a dog his age needs so he was returned to the rescue. It wasn't his fault, he just wanted someone that can play, run, hike and just have fun with. Kermit has been left in the house at night un-crated and does very well. He waits until morning to be let out to do his business. Kermit also loves car rides and rides quietly watching out the window. Israel is an almost 4 year old Pointer mix. This sweet fella is more calm than the average pup and seems to just be a 'go with the flow' kind of guy. He walks well on a leash after initial energy out of his cage, and is overall a gentleman. While Israel is fairly reserved when in his cage, his wonderful personality really shines once he is out of it and in the park! He becomes so joyful – the type of joy that spreads to everyone around him! He enjoys playing with toys, frolicking with people, and giving goofy grins while getting petted. Clearly Israel will truly shine once in a home setting! He is smart and we believe he would catch onto commands quickly. We are unsure of his demeanor with other dogs and would suggest a meet-n-greet!   The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA.
