Story
Stella was originally found as a stray and taken to a local shelter, where a family friend adopted her. When their circumstances changed and they could no longer care for her, we welcomed Stella into our home so she wouldn’t have to return to the shelter. She’s had a lot of transition for a young dog, and now she deserves a forever home where she can finally settle in for good. Stella is a gentle, affectionate 2-year-old lab/pointer mix who bonds closely with her people. She does wonderfully with children and gets along well with other friendly dogs. However, she doesn’t do well with babies or cats, so she needs a home without either. What Stella wants most is companionship. She thrives in a calm, consistent environment and does best when someone is home most of the time. She would be an ideal match for someone who works from home or retirees looking for a loving, loyal companion. Due to her fear of crates, Stella needs a home where she can relax in open, comfortable spaces.

Story
Candy has a unique look - unless you count her nearly identical sisters! These distinctive girls have ears the better to hear you with and tails that act like rudders when they run - and they are built to run, athletic and active. Intelligent and sensitive, the girls are overwhelmed at the confusing shelter and need time to understand new situations. Having been abandoned and on their own, they are just cautious like that. Candy is a bit more of a free thinker than her sisters. She knows what she wants, and while mostly she wants treats, she also wants some independence. She is the last one to learn 'sit' (didn't wanna!), but does walk nicely on leash and crates up when asked. She is more ready to explore and do her thing. Still, she wants to enter into a fair relationship with new people who are respectful and looking for a partner, not a baby. She has struggled to make new dog friends at the shelter, mainly because of the environment - she has been fine in less stressful situations. Yeah yeah, he shares a name with that famous book dog. But unlike him, our Marley is past the puppy nonsense and already has his basic manners and play skills down pat (well...keeping it real...he can't catch worth anything!). But just like that other Marley, our boy is looking for that home that will stay true, through thick or thin, for better or worse.   ***Our pups don't tell us who their parents are - BREED is a GUESS*** ~  Est DOB: May 2014 ~  Est weight:  60#  ~  Adoption details:  calhouncountyhs.blogspot.com/p/adopt.htmlNovember 1, 2024, 11:11 pm
