Story
Jasper has been in our program for almost a year. He was adopted into a wonderful home, but has proven too much for them.We are going to list Jasper's problems first ... honestly, he only has one problem, he's a fence jumper / escape artist. In his foster home, all measures have been taken and he STILL ESCAPES. In his adoptive home, a privacy fence is in place and Jasper, also known as Mr. Agility Dog, can stand next to the fence and jump to the top of the privacy fence (6 feet) and balance on the top of the 1/2 inch boards. He then surveys the area on the other side of the fence and determines where would be a good spot to jump down into the neighbor's yard and 'boing' off he goes. Other than this, Jasper is the most amazing dog! He came to us after running around Burns Park for at least two weeks. We've pretty much determined he probably had escaped his yard OR his owner was tired of him escaping and simply dumped him at the dog park. At any rate, he was captured and came to our program. Jasper is probably the most intelligent dog we've ever had ... we have realized he can reason and calculate! He has an amazing personality and loves everyone, kids included and he also loves... LOVES other dogs, big and small. We are not sure about cats. He would be an amazing agility dog. Here is what Jasper needs:While we very rarely adopt to a home without a fence, that is what Jasper needs. A home in the country or on a farm where he is not contained. When Jasper jumps the fence, he doesn't go far at all ... it's almost like he sees the fence as a challenge ... he MUST jump the fence! He stays near and scouts around, then the next thing you know, he's back in the yard. He would enjoy having a job ... riding in a farm truck and being a helper to his master! He needs to stay busy and let him do what he was born to do ... be a dog! Jasper is leash trained and crate trained and would be fine sleeping in a crate at night, or on your bed. He is fully vetted and heartworm negative and on preventative for heartworms and fleas and ticks. Jasper is 100% house trained and has never had an accident in the house ... but in his foster home, he has access to a doggie door. He lives with a couple of kids in foster care ... one 6 year old and one 2 year old and he's great with them both. We really cannot say enough good things about this dog ... we just MUST find him the right home.Jasper's adoption fee is sponsored for the family who gives this dog the perfect home. A home check will be required. After a year in his foster home, we know what this dog needs and we want to make sure he gets it and is also safe in his new home as he truly IS an amazing dog!To make the best possible match for you and the pet, please follow the link below to complete the Adoption Application.
