Story
Dean is a young Pointer/Hound mix with a zest for life and a heart full of love. At approximately 1 year old, he’s still very much a puppy at heart—curious, playful, and always ready for his next adventure. Dean is an affectionate boy who never misses an opportunity for cuddles. If you're looking for a dog who believes there’s no such thing as being too close, Dean is your guy. He loves climbing into laps, handing out kisses, and soaking up belly rubs whenever he can. After playtime, you'll often find him curled up beside his favorite people or stretched out dramatically on the couch, completely content. Like many young dogs, Dean is still learning the ropes. He is currently working on basic manners, including commands like sit and nice, and he responds well to positive reinforcement, treats, and consistency. He's smart, eager to please, and enjoys learning new things. Dean absolutely loves other dogs and thrives on canine companionship. Whether he's wrestling with a playmate, following a friend on an adventure, or snuggling up for a nap, he enjoys having a dog buddy around. Cats are still an unknown; while Dean’s intentions seem playful, his enthusiasm may be a bit overwhelming for more laid-back feline friends. Because of his youthful energy and playful spirit, Dean would do best in an active home that can provide regular exercise, continued training, structure, and plenty of affection. In return, he will reward his family with endless entertainment, unwavering loyalty, and more love than you could imagine. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who will keep you laughing, keep you active, and always be ready for a cuddle, Dean may be the perfect addition to your family. If you're interested in adopting/meeting this pup, please complete our online adoption application, available here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application. Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $250 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Story
Meet Milton! Milton is a 2-year-old Pointer mix searching for his forever home. He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but with a few gentle pets and a little patience, his sweet personality quickly shines through. Once he warms up, Milton turns into a total love bug who adores affection. This gentle boy loves giving hugs, soaking up belly rubs, and spending time by your side. He’s quiet, well-mannered, and walks nicely on a leash, making him a wonderful companion for relaxing strolls and cozy evenings alike. We haven’t had the chance to test Milton with other dogs yet, so we’re still learning how he feels about canine friends. What we do know is that Milton has all the makings of an amazing best friend. Could Milton be the perfect match for you?

Story
Meet Marion Cunningham 🤍 Sweet, gentle, and quietly hoping for her happily ever after, Marion is ready to discover what it truly means to be someone's beloved family member. Marion is a Mini Goldendoodle born on March 25, 2023, weighing in at 52 pounds—we're using the term mini a little loosely with this girl! She recently retired from life as a breeding dog and is learning that the world can be a kind and safe place. Of all our mama doodles, Marion is the shyest. Each day, however, she becomes a little braver. Her confidence grows the most when she has a patient human by her side who simply lets her know she's loved. Our founder, Jessica, has proudly taken on the role of "Aunt Jessy," even joining Marion outside for potty breaks so she never has to face the big world alone. One thing Marion has already mastered? House training! She isn't a fan of crates, but thankfully she doesn't need one. She's happiest when she has the freedom to relax in a quiet home where she feels safe. Marion would thrive with a securely fenced yard and a family that understands trust can't be rushed. She prefers calm voices, slow movements, and gentle encouragement. Because she can become overwhelmed easily, a home without young children would be the best fit for her. She's freshly groomed, has developed quite the appreciation for grilled chicken, and is slowly discovering that affection can be a wonderful thing. The family who gives Marion the time and patience she deserves will be rewarded with something incredibly special—the joy of watching a timid dog realize, little by little, that she is finally home. Marion has spent enough of her life meeting everyone else's needs. Now it's her turn to have a family who will meet hers.

Story
Apollo is a sweet boy who is a 2 year old Staffy Mix. He is a big boy weighing close to 90 pounds! Car Rides and Walks are two of his favorite things to do. Apollo has had quite a bit of training, walks very well on a leash, he is house trained, and is now looking for his forever family. Are you looking for a walking buddy or just someone to snuggle up on the couch with you, then fill out an application so you can meet him. Our adoption process is usually quick, but may take up to two weeks. When you find an animal you are interested in, we ask that you fill out an application as a first step so we can determine if your family is a good fit for the animal. If you are, then we will contact you to arrange a time for you and your family to meet the animal so you can decide if it is a good fit. If you currently have dogs, we require that the dogs be present at the meeting to make sure it's a good fit all around. Once compatibility is determined, we move on to the paperwork and finalize the adoption. If the meet is not a good fit, we will keep your application on file for 6 months and we will gladly consider your family for another dog.
