Poppy is a low-energy, easygoing girl who just wants to be close to her people. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch or going for a stroll, she’s happiest simply being by your side. She’s fully house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and truly enjoys her daily outings. One of Poppy’s most special qualities is her love for people—she’s incredibly friendly with everyone she meets and absolutely adores children. She’s gentle, affectionate, and has a calm presence that makes her a wonderful companion for families or individuals alike. Poppy is currently living in an apartment and does great in that setting. She’s a quiet dog overall, only barking occasionally if someone knocks or there’s noise outside. She doesn’t need a yard as long as she gets her regular walks and potty breaks. She can happily live as the only dog, but if there is another dog in the home, she prefers calmer companions—especially smaller dogs who match her laid-back vibe. She’s also lived peacefully with cats, making her a great fit for a multi-pet household with the right introductions. Poppy can be left home alone for a few hours at a time (about 4–5 hours), as long as the space is dog-proofed—she’s been known to do a little counter surfing when unsupervised! She does struggle with crate anxiety, so she’ll do best in a home where she can safely stay out of a crate. With her occasional playful bursts and zoomies, Poppy brings just the right mix of fun and calm. But more than anything, she brings love. She is devoted, affectionate, and simply wants a person to call her own. Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions. We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
