Story
Meet Callie, who was born on November 25, 2024, into the care of her current foster home. Her mom came from the Rowan County Animal Shelter, and we think she is a Pointer / Foxhound mix. Whatever she is, she is definitely beautiful and so smart! She is such a good girl. Callie is housetrained, sits on command, and patiently waits for her food. She absolutely loves other dogs, so we would love it if she got adopted into a family with a fur sibling. Callie does require a fenced in backyard and needs to go to a home where she'll have another playmate. She is spayed, and up to date on her vaccines. She’s a curious girl who loves car rides, spending time outside (especially the greenway), and lounging on the couch with her favorite human. Treat-motivated and eager to please, she’ll do just about anything for a tasty snack — especially bananas or doggy ice cream!Greta enjoys keeping herself entertained by tossing her toys up and down the stairs and often strikes hilarious sleeping poses (imagine one paw up in the air!). Despite her goofy side, Greta is a sensitive pup who appreciates a calm, gentle home. Thunderstorms don’t bother her at all, but loud, sudden human noises — even playful ones — can make her uneasy.Greta is making wonderful progress with training. She knows “sit,” loves her crate (as long as the door stays open), and is practicing “stay.” She’s comfortable in a harness and does great in the car, although a seatbelt attachment would be wise, so she will not try to ride by your side while you’re driving. Greta also has adorable, webbed paws — who knows, maybe one day she’ll love the water, too! Finally, her jogging gait is so cute— it’s like she’s trotting at an angle.Greta can be a bit cautious at first and would do best with someone who can give her plenty of time, patience, and encouragement. Due to some separation anxiety, she’d appreciate a home where she isn’t left alone too long at first. Greta enjoys meeting adults and other dogs but needs to live in a cat free home.If you’re looking for a smart, silly, and loyal shadow who will make you laugh and melt your heart, Greta might be your ideal match. More about Greta:-She is also eating very well and gets excited for meal time. -She loves toys and has a hard time picking which one to play with when there are many choices!-She has a shy, cautious personality but opens up quickly when she trusts you.-She is VERY SMART!  She knows Sit, Down,Shake, Leave it, Wait.  She also responds very well to corrections.-We have not done a lot of walks as she was hyper-alert, scanning her surroundings and pulling quite a bit the first couple of days, which was manageable, but I thought I would give her some time to settle before working on leash manners.

Story
Ivy was adopted in August 2023 at the Watauga Humane shelterin Boone, NC. She was estimated to be about 8 weeks old when adopted and is some kind of hound/pointer mix. She is a wonderful dog who loves to play and cuddle. She loves going to the dog park and going on long walks and runs. She loves the outdoors and loves to swim and play fetch. She knows commands like sit, stay, lay down, shake, and spin. She has good name recall and is completely potty trained. I unfortunately have allergies to her that progressively got worse as she grew older and I have tried a lot of different treatments, but they still affect me negatively daily. Unfortunately because of this, I have decided to re-home Ivy. I think she would love a yard where she can run around and be free and also be with another dog to have as a friend. She loves to socialize with other dogs and people. She can be a little skittish in loud and chaotic environments, but she is generally calm. She is a really sweet and great dog.

I love playtime, walk time, snuggle time, treat time – I have an infectious upbeat personality!I came to the Humane Society of York County as a stray. I’m a medium-size boy, about 35-40 pounds, but not quite finished growing. My estimated birth date is July 2024.I’m dog-friendly and love playing with other youngsters at the rescue. I also love to get my energy out with a good walk, but also like to stop for a rest, people-watching and some treats or a good chew toy. I’m an affectionate pup with my humans, too, and love to deliver some wet kisses and a hug.I’ve attended school at Zoom Room and showed what a smart boy I am. Blue Flint says he is a hound mix, with a vet estimated year of birth of 2020.  He is full of life and love. He is a super busy guy who will need lots of exercise and structure. Chevy is eager to please and has a very gentle mouth when taking treats and playing fetch. He is super smart and learns very fast. He really needs a home with a fenced in yard so he has plenty of room to run, play and burn off some energy and a family committed to working with him on training to provide the mental exercise he needs.
