Gunther is a 4 year old handsome boy that we rescued from an 'over breeding' situation. He is a very unique kitty with his beautiful Bombay looks and extra toes. He also has a misaligned jaw, but the vet told us we should just leave it alone as it doesn't keep him from eating normally and he is not in any pain from it. And we think it gives him character. He has a perfectly crooked little smile and an adorable little snaggletooth. Gunther could join a home with another kitty, or he could be your one and only. We also think he could join a home with a cat savvy dog as long as the introduction process is done at Gunther's pace. He would love a heated cat bed in his new home along with a window perch to nap on. He is an overall very chill kitty. He is so sweet and affectionate. He just wants to be the center of someone's life. He is looking for that person or family that wants to spoil and love him for the rest of his life. I took in Mugly as a foster after her owners had to rehome her due to financial issues. She’s a gentle soul who has never scratched or bitten. Every night, she comes to sit on my lap while I study. She enjoys pets and occasionally gives gentle kisses. Mugly doesn’t shed much due to her short fur and is a fan of anything chicken-flavored. She's shy around new people, often staring with wide eyes when meeting someone new. Mugly isn't much of a hunter—her coordination isn't great, so she's not catching any toys. Still, she's an easygoing cat with a lot of love to give. I believe she'd be great for families with children. I'm sad to see her go, but I know she’ll be a joy wherever she ends up. Oh, and she has seven toes on each paw, which makes her extra special!

A volunteer was driving in Westminster and came across a cardboard box sitting underneath a parked truck with three kittens inside. A concerned neighbor had been feeding the kittens for a few weeks while trying to find them somewhere to go with no luck. He said the mother cat had been hit by a car a couple weeks earlier, and her kittens were left. All three kittens were out in the freezing, cold rain trying to fend for themselves. Unfortunately, this compassionate neighbor had too many animals to adopt them himself. Our vet confirmed they all had mites, mange, and giardia. All three issues have been successfully cured and Marco, Polo and Poly are ready to find new homes. Poly is a friendly and affectionate cat. He loves people, enjoys pets and cuddles. Poly is also unique in that all four of his paws are polydactyl. This means Poly has six or more toes on each paw, rather than the normal five toes. Cats with polydactyl paws have better balance because they have wider, larger paws allowing them to hunt and climb more efficiently. Another interesting item about polydactyl cats is that they were a favorite of Ernest Hemingway. Mr. Hemingway received a polydactyl feline from a ship’s captain by the name of Snow Ball and subsequently developed a true love for multi-toed cats. His home in Key West, Florida was transformed into a museum after this death and about half of the cats that reside there are polydactyl. Poly also has conjunctivitis from feline herpes virus (FHV-1) that is being treated with eye drops.FHV-1 is very common, in fact almost all cats are exposed to FHV-1 as kittens, either by their mother or by another cat. Up to 80% of cats develop a hidden (referred to as dormant or latent) infection and become carries of FHV-1 for life. In many cats, this causes no problems. But sometimes feline herpes returns occasionally throughout the cat's life, especially in times of illness or stress. Just as some people get repeated Herpes cold sores, some cats will repeatedly get corneal (eye) ulcers or have chronic (long term) sneezing or nasal congestion. Since Poly is still a kitten, his immune system is still growing. Our vet believes he may grow out of the symptoms especially if he is taken out of the high stress shelter environment. Poly is a special boy that really deserves a home! He’d love it even more if his brother Marco (his snuggle buddy) could come along! Please apply to adopt Poly at www.AALOC.org. Lexi is a one-of-a-kind cat. She loves to say hello when you walk into a room and always is ready and willing to chill in your lap. She is by far the easiest sweetest cat you will ever met! I love love this girl. When I walk in the room she meows to tell me how happy she is. She talks to me all day long to tell me how lucky she is to be loved and to give love. Sweet Lexi and a rough patch in the road and ended up at the shelter out of time and ready to be euthanized. We would have never known the love and devotion this girl has shared. The world would have been a little colder without her sweet i love life meows.
