ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Say hello to Audrey, five pounds of spitfire and spunk.  Audrey is a mix of pomeranian and long haired chihuahua, and is as sweet as they come.  Fiercely independent, fearless and smart as a whip, she's definitely not a dog who wants to be put into a purse and be carried around.  Her favorite things to do are to chase tiny tennis balls, climb into the toy box to select her favorite toy of the moment to distribute throughout the house, and wrestle with her foster family's resident dogs, regardless of the fact that they're about 20 times bigger than she is.  Her foster family firmly believes she'd be happiest with at least one other playful dog to hang out with.  She'd be OK with older, respectful children but because she can zip out the door without you even noticing it, a home with small children isn't ideal or safe.  Audrey is about 95% potty trained but still has occasional accidents.  She's really good about going on potty pads if she doesn't have access to outside when nature calls. She can be a little barky, so apartment or condo life (that have shared walls with neighbors) probably wouldn't be a good idea. Audrey is spayed microchipped and up to date on her vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $350. A refundable training deposit of $100 will be also due at the time of adoption. Training must be provided in a timely fashion to ensure our pups become the best canine citizens. The training deposit will be refundable within 3 months of the adoption date.   All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  May 20, 2025, 1:33 am

Story
Meet Byte! Byte entered Riverside County Animal Services as a stray, and when he wasn't claimed during the required hold period, we scooped him up on January 6th to become a Frosted Face. Is there a better way for a shelter dog to start the new year than with a safe exit and the promise of a forever home? Byte is estimated to be 15 years old, and he weighs 8 lbs. A few days after Byte arrived at FFF, he was chosen by a Foster family to live in their home until he is adopted. We are so glad Byte is getting lots of love and pampering in the comfort of a home. Byte's Foster Mom shared this great update: "Byte is a gentle senior gentleman who's found his perfect pace in life! As a 15-year-old pup, he's more interested in relaxation than rigorous exercise. Short, gentle walks are okay, but he's not a fan of long or strenuous activities. Byte's ideal day involves lounging on his favorite bed near his person, sleeping, and enjoying quiet moments. His routine is predictable and comforting: wake up, potty, eat, seek out pets and affection, and then back to bed. He's a low-maintenance companion who thrives on consistency and gentle care. Byte is a grumpy old pup who can be sweet and gentle once he forms a strong bond with his chosen people. He's selective about who he trusts, but once you've earned his affection, he's loyal. Due to his past experiences, he takes time to warm up to new people and may be cautious about being picked up. However, he's made significant progress with my son and me, and we've earned the privilege of picking him up. Byte's greatest strength is his clear communication - he'll warn you if he's feeling uncomfortable or unsafe. As long as his boundaries are respected, he's a happy and peaceful companion. He's done well with our family, including our energetic toddler, as long as we're mindful of his needs. Byte would thrive in a calm and loving home where he can feel safe and receive affection on his own terms. He's looking for a family that will prioritize his emotional well-being and provide a peaceful environment. Ideal Home: * Patient, experienced dog person who finds joy in small wins. * No kids, no chaos, and no expectations of belly rubs on day one. * A quiet place where he can grumble in peace and sleep like the grumpy king he is. At home, Byte lives with our cat, and aside from sneaking in to snack on her food, he treats her with gentle respect. Byte may never be a cuddle bug, but we’ve seen glimpses of sweetness when he lets his guard down. If you’re the kind of person who cheers when a cactus blooms, Byte might just be your soulmate!" Please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org to meet this special boy and give him the loving forever home he so deserves!

Meet Melo! 9-year-old Melo and his lifelong best buddy Athena were surrendered by their family due to financial hardship. They arrived at FFF on January 2nd, and we are excited to get to know these cuties! Their family reported that Melo and Athena are sweet, friendly, and affectionate, with their humans and each other. They love to cuddle! Melo and Athena get along well with other dogs and are used to going to dog parks. They have shown curiosity around cats in the past but no aggressive behavior. Melo and Athena enjoy playing fetch, taking daily walks, and going to the beach.
