Story
Stop, look, listen! Ransom is adorable! But he is only available to someone who has extensive experience with dogs who have Ransom's behavior issues. Yes, he's as soft as a stuffed toy and just as cute and is a very smart, affectionate little guy. But he's quirky. Originally aged at 12 years old by the shelter where he was turned in as a stray, we agree with our vet team that he’s more likely about 8 years old. Ransom loves to keep watch over the neighborhood as much as he loves being cuddled. He’ll use his paw to pull your hand to his face to stroke him. We initially thought he needed to be an only pet but since he was neutered, he is doing much better. We have taken things very slowly with him and the other dogs here. When he first met the other dogs, he was territorial and showed resource guarding towards humans. We have worked with him and he has made great progress. He learns quickly and really wants to please. He knows sit, wait, watch, and come, walks nicely on the leash and is perfectly crate and house trained. Ransom needs a very special adopter. Please read our Senior Moments post to learn about him: https://www.flfosenioranimals.org/post/ransom-notes FLFO requires a home visit therefore adopters must be within 40 miles of Baldwin MD. Thank you for understanding.

Story
Meet Jarvis. Jarvis was adopted in 2015 to a family that said they could & would give him a forever home. Things changed, and they could no longer take care of Jarvis so poor Jarvis ended back into rescue. Even though he seems to be having a blast, we need to find him a home that will provide him a loving forever home. Jarvis is about 16 pounds which is small to most people but he’s in a foster home with mostly chihuahuas not weighing more than 10 pounds. His foster mom describes him as a big dog in a small dogs body. Jarvis is a good boy that has lots of energy so it’s important to know he will need walks, running and playing with another dog or fetch with his human. Jarvis has met many dogs in foster care and has done super well. Jarvis does not do well meeting new people and is very protective of his home so we are looking for an adopter that can handle this and work with Jarvis so he learns he doesn’t need to be the protector, his human will protect him instead. Jarvis is updated on vaccines, was neutered & chipped too. If you think you got what it takes please email AOLanimalrescue@gmail.com and request an application. His cuteness is a bonus!

Story
Applicants need to be within 1 hour drive from Claymont, DE 19703. Noah was surrendered to AOL Animal Rescue when his previous family could no longer care for him. Noah is 7 years old and they had him since he was a puppy. Noah was so shy, scared and quiet his first week or so in his foster home. Noah is no longer any of those, especially quiet. This guy has a lot to say, and if you tell him you don’t want to hear it, he totally ignores you. Noah was previously an only dog so it took him time to adjust to the others. Noah could live with another dog, depending on the other dog’s personality. He has’t yet played with anyone yet. He did get the zoomies when it was just him and foster mom in the back yard so he is happy when it’s all about him. Noah is now crate trained, although he doesn’t appreciate being crated unless he has had the opportunity to use up some of his energy, which he has a lot of! Noah could live with a cat that will stand up for itself and not run away. Noah will chase them if they run. We will be taking Noah out more not that him and foster mom know each other and he is recovered from his neuter. His last ride in the car he reverted back to being very nervous, so he may not ever be too comfy in car rides, but he may get better. As scared as he was in the beginning, he never showed any aggression. Stay tuned for more info but if you like so far what you read and would like to meet Noah, email or call us and we will send out an application. His videos will be on our YouTube page later today too. AOLanimalrescue@gmail.com (302)272-5655

Story
Alyssa is searching for her best friend! She was picked up as a stray and very happy to be back in a home! Alyssa is sweet and friendly and would like to be your shadow. She loves to sleep in your lap or at your feet. She gets along with her foster family’s dogs but much prefers people for company. Alyssa enjoys walking and is good on leash. She is mostly house trained and has nice house manners. Because she bonds strongly, she can be a little barky when left alone. She also might do best in an adult home. My Profile Age: 3 years old Weight: 12 pounds Good with kids: Unknown Good with dogs: I'm OK greeting other dogs, but I'd like to be an only dog Good with cats: Unknown Fenced yard: No Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: I could live in a townhouse, but not an apartment House trained: Mostly Crate trained: Yes Barks when left alone: Yes Chews inappropriate items: No Activity level: Low Meet Me If you are interested in Alyssa, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application at pgspca.org/adopt. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us. Please check the adoption-show-attendees page to see if Alyssa will be attending the next adoption show. NOTE: We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.

Story
TATER TOT Male Pomeranian 6-8 years old Good with smaller dogs (he is dog selective) Not recommended with cats Not recommended with kids Appropriate for city living: No Meet Tater Tot Tater Tot is a middle-aged Pomeranian who walks a little wonky but has lots of love to give. Tater Tot was allegedly hit by a car and unable to walk. After a few days at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates, with good care, pain meds and lots of love, he started to recover. Bit by bit, day by day, he got better. He had no injuries consistent with being hit by a car and an MRI did not indicate any breaks but did confirm some changes in a few of his discs. None of this slows him down a bit! He loves to run even if it looks a bit wobbly! Tater takes a while to warm up to new people but once he loves you, he loves you with his whole heart. Tater Tot is going to need an extra special, patient family. He will be added to the website soon, but you can still submit an application at www.findingshelter.org. About CHARACTERISTICS Friendly, Affectionate, Loyal, Playful, Protective, Brave, Curious, Independent, Funny COAT LENGTH Long HOUSE-TRAINED No HEALTH Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. GOOD IN A HOME WITH Other dogs. (He is selective) PREFERS A HOME WITHOUT Children. The first step is to submit an application at www.findingshelter.org. Adopters must live within 30 miles of King of Prussia, PA.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Well I was 'purchased' by a senior citizen.  He was 78 and I was a puppy :(  I had to be around really big dogs.  By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself.  My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy.  To say it was a mess was an understatement :(   My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me.  She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me.  She took my leash and we went for a walk.  I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be.  She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard.  Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen.  Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs.  The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day.  I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!!  Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE!  I'm even OK with female humans!!!  Life is GREAT!!  PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone.  Its not fair.  I know other people can take the dog but boy would you like to have your world turned upside down and start all over again just because someone was selfish enough to not think ahead???MUST HAVE FENCED YARD AND ANOTHER DOG Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!April 15, 2024, 12:36 pm
