We prefer potential adopters to be within 1 hour drive of Claymont DE 19703. Oso (bear in Spanish), was surrendered because his original family could not provide him what he needed. We got “Oh so” and immediately made a vet appointment, we knew he needed to be neutered and dental surgery if his bloodwork was ok, so he was thoroughly checked and good to go. He is a totally different dog after 24 teeth were removed. I don’t think he notices his testies are gone, he is having so much fun chewing on bones, playing with toys and eating with no pain. He has the energy of a 5 year old dog, so not a typical low key senior dog. I would have named him Tigger bc he bounces so much. He just wants to be with his people. If foster mom is sitting, then Oso finds a spot close by to lay down. He loves to go on walks and car rides. He is crate trained too. He gets along with most of the other dogs, except a high energetic one yr old chi that's in everyone’s face. Oso has a very think coat so he will need to be brushed, and he loves it. His bark doesn’t match his size, you would think he was over 50 pounds if you heard his bark behind a closed door. He is very chatty so we will not home him in an apartment or condo. Because Bear can be timid in new situations, he would do best in a calm, patient household without small children. He'll thrive with someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let him settle in at his own pace. If you're looking for a quiet, sweet companion who will reward your patience with unconditional love, Bear may be the perfect match. He spent way too much time stuck in a crate, with little human interaction, learning more about fear than love. People weren’t his safe place…they were just something to be scared of. He kept himself tucked away in his own tiny, lonely world.After a few months of working with him, he is now a playful loving guy that absolutely enjoys belly rubs. He will come up and nuzzle when he wants attention, which is quite often. He has learned trust, love, and affection. Guerro gets along great with other dogs, and cats, walks well on a leash, and is about 90% house broke. He will use a pee pads when he can't get outside. ##2695189##

I adopted Paco in August 2023. He will be 5 this year. He weighs 14.5#. He is affectionate and an excellent companion. He is not destructive and has a low energy level. (Except when he gets the zoomies). He gets along well with my two cats. I need to rehome him because of changes in my work schedule. His main behavioral issues are dog aggression (barking and straining at the leash). However, he is mostly responsive to treats. Although he is house trained, I keep him in reusable/washable doggie belly bands because he sometimes marks in the house. I think he would be best off in a home where someone is around most of the day. He prefers women to men. He would also be fine with cats or a small to medium dog. When he meets dogs fave to face, he usually drops into a play bow right away, so he might appreciate a friend.
