Story
Meet Birdie – Senior Pomeranian, 10 Years Old and Approximately 10lbs Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Mays Landing, New Jersey for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Birdie is a gentle, shy senior Pomeranian who is looking for a calm, patient forever home. She originally came to us from a difficult situation and made wonderful progress in her foster home. Birdie was recently adopted, but due to unexpected changes in her adopter’s life, she has returned to foster care through no fault of her own. Birdie gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats. She relies on the presence of another dog for comfort, so a home with at least one friendly, calm dog is required. She is a quiet, reserved girl who watches everything around her with curiosity, and with time and kindness she continues to build confidence. She is pee pad trained and still working on full housetraining. Birdie is hard of hearing (possibly deaf), but her vision is good, she tolerates grooming well, and she is in overall good health. What is great about Birdie, is she only needed a cleaning at the vet! Birdie would do best in a home that: • Is calm and predictable • Has small-dog or Pomeranian experience • Has at least one other dog to help her feel safe • Can provide patience, gentle guidance, and one-on-one attention • Understands that she needs time to trust new people Birdie doesn’t need much — just a loving adopter who will let her settle in at her own pace and give her the safe, peaceful life she’s always deserved. If you’re ready to give Birdie her true forever home, she is ready to meet you.

Story
We prefer potential adopters to be within 1 hour drive of Claymont DE 19703. Oso (bear in Spanish), was surrendered because his original family could not provide him what he needed. We got “Oh so” and immediately made a vet appointment, we knew he needed to be neutered and dental surgery if his bloodwork was ok, so he was thoroughly checked and good to go. He is a totally different dog after 24 teeth were removed. I don’t think he notices his testies are gone, he is having so much fun chewing on bones, playing with toys and eating with no pain. He has the energy of a 5 year old dog, so not a typical low key senior dog. I would have named him Tigger bc he bounces so much. He just wants to be with his people. If foster mom is sitting, then Oso finds a spot close by to lay down. He loves to go on walks and car rides. He is crate trained too. He gets along with most of the other dogs, except a high energetic one yr old chi that's in everyone’s face. Oso has a very think coat so he will need to be brushed, and he loves it. His bark doesn’t match his size, you would think he was over 50 pounds if you heard his bark behind a closed door. He is very chatty so we will not home him in an apartment or condo. If you are interested in adopting this young at heart old man, please email us AOLanimalrescue@gmail.com. We do require a vet reference. If you do not have one we are willing to accept a family’s vet reference, with their permission.

Story
Meet Mi’jo — a tiny senior gentleman with a heart full of love. Mi’jo is a 10-year-old, 12-pound sweetheart who embodies everything wonderful about senior dogs: calm, gentle, affectionate, and endlessly grateful for every moment with his people. He’s housetrained, crate trained, and has the sweetest, softest presence in the home. Mi’jo enjoys the simple joys of life—slow strolls, sniffing around the yard, cozy naps, and treats (he LOVES treats!). Despite having typical senior-dog challenges like dim vision, some arthritis, and spondylosis, he’s still active, comfortable, and happily engaged in his daily routines. He currently lives with several other dogs and gets along beautifully with everyone, but due to his small size and gentle nature, Mi’jo would do best in a quiet home without rambunctious dogs or small children. He also isn’t suited for homes with lots of stairs unless they can be securely blocked off. Mi’jo is a quiet little man, though he does enjoy gently reminding the Amazon driver that he’s still on duty as a loyal protector. Most of the time, though, you’ll find him cuddled up on the couch, snoozing peacefully. This sweet boy has been fully vetted, including labwork, a dental cleaning, and a thorough exam. He had very poor teeth and required 16 extractions, so he now eats soft food (or Fresh Pet) and enjoys soft treats—Pill Pockets are his favorite! He takes a daily NSAID to keep him comfortable and feeling good. Mi’jo is looking for a calm, loving home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by warmth, safety, and gentle companionship. Could your heart and couch be the perfect place for him? Email info@joyrides.org to request an application. Mi'jo is being fostered in Jersey City, NJ and is available for adoption locally or in the NE. We can usually find a volunteer to meet you halfway!

Story
Charlie is 5-year-old, 17-pound Pomeranian mix has a story to tell. Originally found as a stray in Philadelphia, he was adopted from another shelter in October but when his owner failed to reclaim him, we were thrilled to scoop him up and give him a second chance at finding the perfect home. He’s a funny little guy who loves hanging out with our volunteers and has been nothing but sweet and playful. We’ve had no issues handling him - he’s easygoing and enjoys attention without being demanding. His cheerful personality and quirky charm make him a joy to be around. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will keep you smiling, this little guy is ready to meet you! Apply today and give him the forever home he deserves. He will come neutered, vaccinated, microchipped. He would need to meet any resident dogs. If you are serious about adoption, please fill out the adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $500. Story
Meet Goose! He's playful and adorable. He wants to sleep in late, take long walks, and play before bedtime. 7 years old, 21 lbs, Gustav is a Pomeranian mix with soft flowing locks. He's a fast learner and knows over 20 commands and tricks. If you teach him a trick, he'll pick it up in no time. Goose is perfectly house trained and is great on a leash. He has some dog reactivity but he'll ignore most dogs if you give him a treat & prefers dogs that are smaller than him. He has lived with cats successfully. Goose has been our beloved pet for 6 years. We wholeheartedly adore him and are heartbroken to say goodbye. Unfortunately, he has become anxious and stressed sharing his home with a 4 month old baby. His vet and trainer agree that while this beautiful, loving pup's anxiety does require management, a fresh start in a new place would make him a happier dog. He needs calm, quiet, & quality time with 1 or 2 adults in a child-free home. Could you be Gustav's new best friend?

Story
Isabella is a 6yo 8lb Pom mix. She is dog friendly. She’s house broken when kept on a schedule, pee pad and crate trained. She is very good with people once she confident she is safe. When she feels unsafe, she will bark obsessively to make you aware that she is not comfortable with her surroundings. She requires minimal amount of noise. She does not do well with over three dogs. Confusion and stress make her bark. Isabella’s foster requires a home that understands she is blind so it takes a little time to feel safe. She will sit right by your side and be completely content. She learns her surroundings quickly and maneuvers well as long as you don’t keep moving things around. If your home DOES NOT meet these requirement’s please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone whose home does not meet the needed requirements. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Isabella as all dogs should have 2 weeks in their new home with just their people who live in the home and to not have people over for at least 2 weeks. Dogs need time to settle in and adjust to their new people and environment first so they can learn to trust them first. Isabella is blind, she was born with a micro eye defect, and has dry eye which requires eye drops two times daily. She also has arthritis in her hips and legs, which makes her walk a little funny but does very well under pain management. She is spayed, vaccinated, HW negative and microchipped. Currently in Hatboro, PA. If your home meets the needed requirements and you’re interested in applying to adopt please do so at www.tprescue.org
