I came from a breeding facility so it’s taken me some time to get comfortable with relaxing around the humans. I am finally understanding how exciting it is to have foster mom give me pets, scratches and treats. I’m not quite there with snuggling but I like to follow foster mom around and sit nearby.  Potty training is a work in progress. My new home will have to invest in pee pads while I get used to what your life is like. I have no experience with walking on a leash so a home with a fully fenced yard would be ideal for me. I also have no experience with children so might be best to go to a quieter adult home. Perhaps I would be OK with anyone though, as long as they are respectful and can give me time to get used to them.  With time, patience and lots of love, I could be a wonderful and loving companion for the right person or family.  I hope you will consider adopting a dog with a bit of a disappointing past. You carry me—I wave like royalty. Dealbreakers: Apartments. I poop too freely and too often for shared walls. Stairs. Not a fan. Not negotiable. People who aren’t ready to discuss dingleberries like adults. So here’s the deal: I’m dramatic, extra, slightly high-maintenance, and 100% worth it. I am a timid and shy girl who is making tremendous progress living in a home with a loving family. I have learned so many things – the most important is to trust my people. My people have been very gentle and going slow with me and I have made a lot of progress. She gives me little massages on my head and back – it is so relaxing for me and my people. I have the softest coat and I think you will agree! I am a shy little girl, so having a confident dog in my forever home is required. Another dog will be helpful to show me the ropes, help me get on a routine and help me feel comfortable in my surroundings. Foster mom tells me with a little time and a lotta love, I will come out of my shell and be a great friend to my people. A lot of commotion worry me a bit, so I spend time in my comfy bed watching the activity in the house. Hopefully you have lots of comfy beds for me! Potty training is going great, my foster mom carries me outside and I am good about doing my business on a routine. While I will go potty on a leash, I don't know how to go for walks yet so will need a fence. Maybe there is another dog in the house to show me how to walk on a leash? Hopefully! Meet Jethro! He was a stray in Scott County before he came to SMART! Little did we know that he is just about full grown at 22lb! The vets put his age at 6-9 months old, and he is a snuggle bug who makes himself at home wherever he goes. He is a great boy who just needs to find his furever people. Is that you??

I got him from a pet store. He is about 7 yrs old. We used to have another dog when I brought him home but that dog has passed away a few yrs ago. He was good with the other dog but I dont know how he will be anymore being a single dog household now. I have 3 cats, he barks or runs after them sometimes but has never hurt them. I just have never bonded with this dog. My daughters wanted him & my 1 daughter has moved out. His behavioral issue is he pees in my house. I've had him since 6 weeks old. I have never tried to take him to a trainer. I'm not home a lot just ready to find someone who can give him more love & attention. He is good at riding in vehicles. He likes to go boating, camping, for rides & loves walks! He does bark a lot when others enter my home & it takes a few minutes for him to adjust & stop barking. He has been known to nip at guests heals. I just don't have the patience to work with him. He loves attention obviously & cuddles that I just dont give him.
