Story
Meet Pixie! In late August, our rescue partner picked up this little Pomeranian from the shelter. The original owner had moved away, leaving this baby behind, and a neighbor tried to care for them but realized she couldn’t continue caring for her and had to take her to the pound. Pixie was nervous, dirty, and full of fleas, but after a much-needed bath, she’s already feeling so much better. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and is up to date on monthly prevention. Pixie weighs 9.5 pounds, is estimated to be 6 years old, and has beautiful red fur that will grow back fully. Pixie is calm and loves to cuddle; she is very affectionate. Her foster home has dogs of all sizes and cats too, she is doing well with everyone. Pixie will need time to acclimate to your home and expectations. Her new family needs to understand that she is a lifetime commitment; they must also be committed to daily exercise, continued training, and socialization. If you are interested in adoption, DO NOT CALL; please complete an online application on 4 Paws Animal Rescue's website at www.4pawz.org. We verify the care of past/current pets. Our goal is to have the very best home for all our dogs and cats, and therefore, we reserve the right to approve or deny an application based on what we determine is in the pet's best interest. #lovedogsforever #pommix #poms #rescuedisthebestbreed #dogs #puppiesareacommittment #rescuedog #lovedogs #adopt #adoptdontshop

Story
Meet Tessa! She came to us after being found on a country dirt road with no houses, nobody came forward during her stray hold. She had a lot of hair loss and a skin infection. Tessa is about 4 years old, she weighs about 20lbs and she is FULL of personality. She does well with kids and cats; she is dog selective (she is currently being fostered with other dogs but she does not love all of them). She doesn’t like when some dogs get in her personal space. Tessa uses the dog door and does very well with potty training. Here is what her foster has to say about her: Tessa has a very sweet demeanor. She is the perfect mix of playful and couch potato. Tessa loves toys of all kinds especially anything she can chew. She loves riding in the car and going places with us. Tessa needs time to adjust to her new home and it’s expectations. Her future family should be aware that pet ownership is a lifelong commitment, requiring daily exercise, ongoing training, and socialization. A good dog is a tired dog. If you're considering adopting Tessa, we ask that you NOT CALL us. Instead, please complete an application https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/21800/generic. We verify the care of past/current pets. Our primary goal is to find the best homes for all our dogs and cats. As such, we reserve the right to approve or deny adoption applications based on determining what's in the pet's best interest. #LoveDogsForever #MixedBreed #Pommix #RescuedIsTheBestBreed #Dogs #DogsAreACommitment #RescueDog #LoveDogs #Adopt #AdoptDontShop

Story
Kirk may be small at just 6 pounds, but his journey has been anything but easy. This handsome, fluffy Papillon/Chihuahua mix is around 1–2 years old and is learning what it means to live a life filled with safety, affection, and choice — things he never had before.  Kirk was rescued from an extreme hoarding and breeding situation where over 140 dogs were living without proper care or socialization. Because of this, he entered foster care fearful and unsure of human touch. Trust did not come easily — but love has been changing everything. In his foster home, Kirk has begun to soften. With patience and consistency, he is discovering that laps are for cuddling, voices can be gentle, and attention can be something to enjoy rather than fear. He now seeks out affection and loves being close to his people, especially when he feels secure. Kirk is still on a confidence-building journey. He will benefit from daily walks, positive reinforcement, and a calm environment where he can continue learning at his own pace. A fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus, and a home with older children or adults who understand his sensitive nature would be ideal. He is crate trained and continuing to improve with house training. Kirk is not a finished story — he is the beginning of one. A story of resilience, healing, and a dog finally becoming who he was always meant to be. If you have the patience to earn his trust (it won't take long) and the heart to love him through his transformation, Kirk will repay you with loyalty, devotion, and the quiet joy of watching a once-frightened dog flourish.
