Story
Hi, my name is Beary and I would love to meet you. I have been at the shelter since Jul 03, 2025. There’s no better place than cuddled up close to my human on the comfiest couch. I’m the kind of dog that enjoys an easy-going lifestyle. Movie marathons, binge-watching shows, designated nap times, and regular pets are some of my favorite activities to do with my people!

Story
Rainy is a 9-month-old purebred Pomeranian. He’s had a rough start, a lack of proper training and poor handling, instilling several behavioral issues that will require diligent training and patience. His male owner handled him roughly so he is now fearful of many men. Rainy would do best with a female owner(s) in a home with no other pets and no kids. PROS: Very sweet & silly. Loves to be close, snuggle, & be handled. Fun to play with, & will make you laugh all day with his antics. Walks well on a leash & loves riding in the car. Great with sleeping in a crate at night. Very attuned to his owner, easily redirected, and shows a lot of potential for learning. CONS: Not experienced with being alone & will need to slowly adjust to that. Not potty-trained & requires a vigilant eye as he unlearns bad habits. Requires frequent brushing but is wary of the brush & will need patient training. Very vocal, barks to communicate everything. Has retained baby teeth that need surgical extraction ASAP.

Story
Meet Rusty! Rusty was born to mama Luci, who arrived with us heavily pregnant with 6 puppies. She safely gave birth to them but sadly developed mastitis soon after birth so all puppies had to be bottle fed around the clock until Luci felt better. After about two weeks Luci was able to go back to feeding her pups and they have grown healthy and strong. The pups were born on April 28 and are almost ready to go to their forever homes.  They are gorgeous little ones and we were curious to know their exact mix. A DNA test showed they are mostly Pomeranian and Chihuahua but there are many other breeds mixed in also. The pups are very tiny - about the size of a human hand - and will remain small as adults. They are delicate and fragile at this age. It is our strong preference to place these pups with applicants who have experience with small breeds and who have no children under 8 in the home.  All of the pups have been well socialized but of course this work will need to continue. Puppies need proper training and socializing to help prevent behavioral issues as they grown into adult dogs. We provide an only socialization class, free of charge, to all adopters.  The pups have received their first round of vaccinations and have ben dewormed. They are too tiny to microchip at this time or to be spayed/neutered. This will be done when they are a bit older, at our cost. Spay and neuter is not optional and part of our adoption contract.  You can submit an application via our website savinggreatanimals.org. The adoption fee is $595 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Meet Millie! Oh Millie, we love you so much! Millie was seen being pushed out of a car with two other little dogs.  Another driver saw this and scooped them all up. Thankfully they are all safe! Millie is an adorable little girl. We think she is a Pomeranian mix. She is quite small at just around 10 lbs. Millie is the sweetest girl. She is very affectionate and loving with people. She does need a few minutes to warm up and can be initially overwhelmed if people stick their faces too close to her too soon. She is hilarious and loves squeaky toys. She is working on potty training and doing well but needs regular reminders. Millie does ok with other dogs but can resource guard her favorite toys. She responds well to a verbal correction. She loves playing with other dogs. She will also be happy to be an only dog, provided she gets lots of interaction and playtime. She is not friendly with cats and needs to be in a cat-free home. Millie can be easily overwhelmed with too much attention, chaos and noise, so we prefer to see her in a child-free home.  Millie is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $525 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around WA & OR, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal due to their fees they charge the rescue but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. The oh so beautiful inside & out Manolo whose picture screamed the disgusting neglect he was in, in a death camp of a scary shelter in CA. He was posted looking so very defeated. Yes, it appears at the age of 5 he was going to die which is absolutely unacceptable & disgusting. We rescued this beautiful little lad & his friend Findi from the same home after no one was coming for them. The even sadder part about this is their owner claimed they were strays but it was quickly determined he was not telling the truth. They were going to lose their lives. That day was 1 very sad & joyous day all at the same time. Without his outstanding foster dad, this would not of happened for Manolo. Manolo who is now looking for his very own forever home & who will never give up on him again & dump him & love him just as his foster dad in CA did & we do. After we rescued Manolo he was bought back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find him his loving forever home. The absolute insanity to think this baby doll ended up in one of the highest kill shelters in CA is soul destroying. Manolo just wants to be loved. Disturbing to think no one wanted him & he was ready to die. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters. When we first rescued him, he ate multiple bowls of food as if he is making up for lost time. Manolo is a very sweet gentle soul, he is so easy considering what he has endured. Manolo is a very sweet dog & loves his humans once he knows them. Lays with you & can't be happier being petted & touched. He also loves to be with his buddies & just lay with them or do whatever they are doing. We do know that Manolo & Findi are not bonded & he can stress her out. He loves everyone he meets after he knows them & enjoys being cuddled to & given love. He also enjoys snuggling up on the couch & will jump on the couch & spend his day relaxing. We cannot believe someone would be so cruel & neglectful to Manolo. Manolo’s new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard for his safety. Manolo has been great with his baths because he started having them with us the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. He has also started getting used to being dried with a hairdryer. He will just let you dry him. Manolo rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & will sit in his car seat next to you with his dog friends. He also enjoys looking out the window. He still needs continued work walking on his harness & leash. We are looking for a forever home for Manolo where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. He was left in a cage in the shelter until we rescued him. Manolo is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Manolo has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & was fostered with other dogs in his foster home & does well with them & enjoys their company. We also have tested him in a daycare with other breeds of dogs & does well. Manolo is roughly 5 years old 12.6 lbs & is perhaps a pomeranian mix, what he is mixed with we are not sure at all. He is male, neutered by laser by our wonderful vets. Had a dental scale & polish along with dental x-rays. He had several teeth removed, 1 incisor, 1 canine, 2 premolars, 1 molar. He is microchipped, he had his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & being dewormed. Once these shots expire we only redo rabies as we do not over vaccinate our beloved dogs. Manolo is dealing with an allergy & lost parts of his fur but it’s growing back in. He is now on a clean diet of raw fruits, vegetables & supplements. He was given a kibble & believe it was due to that. Manolo has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have not had him around small children. But we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Manolo was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Manolo’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Manolo potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Manolo has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Manolo & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Manolo who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this spirited little lad. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Manolo has an adoption fee of $450& is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.
