Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around WA & OR, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal due to their fees they charge the rescue but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. The oh so beautiful inside & out Manolo whose picture screamed the disgusting neglect he was in, in a death camp of a scary shelter in CA. He was posted looking so very defeated. Yes, it appears at the age of 5 he was going to die which is absolutely unacceptable & disgusting. We rescued this beautiful little lad & his friend Findi from the same home after no one was coming for them. The even sadder part about this is their owner claimed they were strays but it was quickly determined he was not telling the truth. They were going to lose their lives. That day was 1 very sad & joyous day all at the same time. Without his outstanding foster dad, this would not of happened for Manolo. Manolo who is now looking for his very own forever home & who will never give up on him again & dump him & love him just as his foster dad in CA did & we do. After we rescued Manolo he was bought back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find him his loving forever home. The absolute insanity to think this baby doll ended up in one of the highest kill shelters in CA is soul destroying. Manolo just wants to be loved. Disturbing to think no one wanted him & he was ready to die. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters. When we first rescued him, he ate multiple bowls of food as if he is making up for lost time. Manolo is a very sweet gentle soul, he is so easy considering what he has endured. Manolo is a very sweet dog & loves his humans once he knows them. Lays with you & can't be happier being petted & touched. He also loves to be with his buddies & just lay with them or do whatever they are doing. We do know that Manolo & Findi are not bonded & he can stress her out. He loves everyone he meets after he knows them & enjoys being cuddled to & given love. He also enjoys snuggling up on the couch & will jump on the couch & spend his day relaxing. We cannot believe someone would be so cruel & neglectful to Manolo. Manolo’s new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard for his safety. Manolo has been great with his baths because he started having them with us the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. He has also started getting used to being dried with a hairdryer. He will just let you dry him. Manolo rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & will sit in his car seat next to you with his dog friends. He also enjoys looking out the window. He still needs continued work walking on his harness & leash. We are looking for a forever home for Manolo where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. He was left in a cage in the shelter until we rescued him. Manolo is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Manolo has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & was fostered with other dogs in his foster home & does well with them & enjoys their company. We also have tested him in a daycare with other breeds of dogs & does well. Manolo is roughly 5 years old 12.6 lbs & is perhaps a pomeranian mix, what he is mixed with we are not sure at all. He is male, neutered by laser by our wonderful vets. Had a dental scale & polish along with dental x-rays. He had several teeth removed, 1 incisor, 1 canine, 2 premolars, 1 molar. He is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & being dewormed. Manolo has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have not had him around small children. But we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Manolo was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Manolo’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Manolo potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Manolo has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Manolo & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Manolo who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this spirited little lad. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Manolo has an adoption fee of $995 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

Story
I'm an adorable Black Pom, looking for my forever home. I am your typical Pom and tend to cling on to one person. I love the 10 and 7 year old girls in my foster home who treat me like a king and get along great with the other foster dogs and cats! Please keep in mind I will require daily regular grooming to keep my beautiful fluffy coat looking good and a good haircut in the summer time!

Story
Meet Saffron! Sweet Saffron was rescued from a terrible breeding situation. She is safe in a foster home now and settling in well.  Saffron is a cautious girl who is just learning how to be a dog. She can be timid with people initially but warms up quickly. From her foster mom: This girl loves love and identifies as a tiny emotional support cuddle bug shadow that will accompany you throughout your home. At the time of this writing, she is nestled on her foster parents lap while he 'works from home'. There is so far no such thing as too much physical affection for her and she soaks up love like a sponge. You will have a hard time finding a softer dog and she’s a pleasure to pet.    There’s a little diva in her and will be initially pouty when you need to crate her. That said, she won’t fuss and has an etch-a-sketch brain. By the time you return, she's happy to see you.  Saffy gets along extremely well with small and medium sized dogs. She does fine with large dogs that are gentle and calm, she may just need a day or so to warm up. She would probably do best in a house with at least one dog and gentle people.    Regarding Walks:  She is timid putting on a leash, but the second she gets out the door it's Saffy-the-Explorer. Friendly to people and other dogs, though she freezes up when approached too quickly. Regardless, she is a real sport about it.    Considerations:   1 - She does shed a fair amount.  2 - She is debarked, so communication with her is subtle. She'll need someone who is attentive in their observations. 3 - She never grew up with routine. Time investment and structure is key. She’s done extremely well adjusting to the routine in her foster home. It's like you can be the parent that fell asleep at her school play, what's important is that you showed up, told her she had an Oscar worthy performance, and got her to home and in bed on time. 4 - While she’s getting used to you might try her hand at being an escape artist. 5 - She will need soft food as she is missing 17 teeth. In short: If you want a highly affectionate dog whereby you are the center of their universe, she will be perfect for you. If you need a more independent dog that can do their own taxes… Probably not. Saffron will be vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $395 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! Story
Meet Gemma! Gemma is a spunky girl! She is very friendly and loves to explore. Her favorite part of the day is hanging out outside in the sun and exploring the yard. She is quite independent but loves getting pets and to be near her person. She recently discovered toys and LOVES taking her favorites outside to play with. She is crate trained and sleeps through the night in her crate. I'd say she's about 80% house trained, but sometimes forgets to let me know she needs to go outside to go #2. She does mark when there are other dogs around, but I'm hoping that will be fixed when she is spayed. Diapers work wonders with her and she's perfectly fine running around with them on.   She gets along very well with smaller dogs; however, it does take her some time to get used to dogs larger than her. She would be a great fit with someone with smaller dogs or perfectly fine as an only dog.  Gemma will be vaccinated and spayed. Her adoption fee is $395 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
