Meet Sakari Sakari is a sweet, silly, affectionate Husky who is ready to find her forever home! She takes no time warming up to new people, and once she decides you’re a friend, you’ll get to see her true Husky personality: playful, goofy, loving, and full of charm.Sakari has been in foster care for almost two weeks, and her foster family has been thrilled with her. She is fully house-trained, great on leash, loves car rides, and is uncharacteristically quiet for a Husky! She has settled in beautifully and has been an absolute joy to have around. In fact, Sakari is our go-to for adoption events because she is such a social butterfly!One thing potential adopters should be aware of is Sakari’s history of resource guarding in her previous home, particularly with high-value items such as bones, treats, food, or things she has stolen. The good news is that Sakari has shown us a very different side of this behavior in foster! Her foster has been able to take stolen items directly from her mouth and has taken bones away from her daily without any issues. We have also seen no resource guarding while she has been at the shelter. Based on her recent behavior, we are feeling more comfortable that her resource guarding may not be as severe as originally reported. However, because of her history, adopters should still be mindful and use caution around food, treats, bones, and other high-value items, especially if there is another dog in the home.Overall, Sakari is a lovely, affectionate, goofy girl with so much to offer. Her resource guarding history is the biggest consideration for her new family, but her recent foster experience has been incredibly encouraging. With thoughtful management, continued training, and a family willing to give her time to settle in, Sakari has all the makings of a wonderful companion.If you’re looking for a sweet, silly Husky who loves car rides, walks, affection, and being her wonderfully weird self, Sakari may be your girl!
