Story
Busta Rhymes was surrendered to a vet for euthanasia after becoming so overweight that he could barely walk. When Polka Dogz Pet Rescue took him in at 34 pounds, his journey to becoming the happy, active boy he was meant to be began. With aqua exercise, portion control, encouragement, and lots of love, Busta has lost an incredible 17 pounds—half his body weight! He is now running and playing around the house and yard and has come so far. Busta is a sweet, loving little guy with a big “I can do it!” attitude. He enjoys being with his people and other dogs, loves a lap, and definitely doesn’t want to be left out! He is food-motivated, so his diet will need to be carefully monitored. His back legs remain a little weak from carrying the extra weight for so long, and he cannot manage regular stairs. Busta has overcome so much and never gives up. Now, all he needs is a loving forever family to continue showing him just how wonderful life can be! PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Adoption fee is $300 and you can adopt me at www.polkadogz.org. ##2760362##

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Who likes meatballs?!? Well, meet our resident 'meatball' Duck... or as we affectionately call him, Uncle Buck. And just like Uncle Buck, he's a chunky, jolly guy! Duck is a silly, goofy and lovable meatball that can sit and chill on the couch, or chill in his crate, which he loves. This approx. 10yo, 30lb. possible pug mix is housebroken, and loves his food and treats, and is always up for a walk. Duck loves every human he meets. He's met older children, but would be fine with respectable younger ones too. Duck is fine with chill dogs that don't 'crowd' him, and would probably be happiest with a doggy friend, but he doesn't require it. We are not sure about cats as he has not been around them. Duck is great in the car and won't argue if you want to take him for a Starbucks pup cup. This boy had a minor condition called "cherry eyes" which were repaired by our vet. He also underwent a dental with teeth extractions. Duck's foster mom says he is most chill, laid back and easiest dog that she has fostered. Duck will make a wonderful companion for someone and he can't wait to find a forever home of his own. Does does have anxiety and takes daily medication, he needs someone who is either retired or works from home and will be home with him most of the time. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home awaiting Duck, complete an app and tell us more about you.  September 7, 2026, 10:42 pm

Story
***Bonded – Lily and Rita are bonded and must be adopted together.*** Meet Lily and Rita! Hi, we're Lily and Rita. We're just two tiny girls trying to make our way in the big, wide world and find the family who will love us forever. Rita– I’m an 8-lb Pug-Chihuahua blend and I'm 1 year young.  I'm a cuddly, clever, and kissy girl who loves being near my person, learning new tricks, and hanging out with best friend Lily!  Lily – I’m a 1-year-old Jack Russell blend who weighs just 6 lb. I am a gentle, shy, snuggly, and smart girl who wants nothing more than to be loved by my humans and to stay close by the side of my best friend, Rita. Favorite Things: Both girls love to be held by their humans, which is easy since they are so tiny. Lilly even loves to sleep in her dog bed on the human bed! 24/7, they love to snuggle and cuddle right up to their human!  Training & Manners: Both Lily and Rita are smart cookies who are eager to learn and who are housetrained if let out frequently and have even picked up a few tricks. Rita will even sit for treats now! They both walk well on a leash and are well-behaved little passengers on car rides.  Health & Care: This healthy pair are up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. They just need their monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. These low-maintenance gals won't even require much elaborate grooming.  Other Animals: Lily and Rita both do well with other calm dogs of all shapes and sizes. They haven't been observed around cats yet, but her foster thinks she'd get along with them, too.  Children: These two sweethearts have not been observed around children yet.  Ideal Home: Equally at home downtown or down on the farm, these two would do well in an apartment, condo, or single-family home. Overall: Lily's and Rita's foster thinks they'd be a great blessing for any family with a heart big enough to take them both. If you’re looking for some cuddly cuties who make wonderful companions, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, their foster family will reach out with more information. The adoption donation for the pair is $750. ##2726957##

Story
Hello! My name is Bonnie. I’m a 3-year-old Pug gal who weighs 15 lbs. I’m a self-proclaimed goofball who still thinks I am a  puppy!  I’m playful, curious, affectionate and full of personality.  And YES . . . I can be a little mischievous.  I’m looking to find my FURever home where I can shower you with love, give you lots of kisses and snuggle.  I am a little bit of chaos, a lot of personality, and some puppy manners that still need work… but I also come with SO much love. Favorite Things: Bonnie has many favorite things, including being close to her people and toys.  She will happily follow you around the house, curl up next to you, climb into your lap for a nap and make sure you are never too far away.  This silly girl loves toys and pretty much anything she can chew on.  Sometimes she even decides something that is not a toy should be a toy, so you will need to keep a close eye on this mischievous girl. Her greatest love is food.  If given an opportunity, she will happily help herself to whatever she can, and she’s working on understanding the difference between her food and your food.  She may have some strong opinions about that distinction!  Her love of food and treats should lend itself nicely when it comes to additional training for Bonnie. Training & Manners:  Bonnie will need an adopter who can work with her on her house training as well as her basic manners and leash walking.  She is learning that hands and feet are not chew toys, and when she gets really excited and wants to play, she can be a little mouthy and play-bite with your hands and feet.  She will need a patient and consistent human to help her with those manners (she truly does still think she’s a puppy).  Health and Care: Bonnie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. She appears to be a healthy gal and will just need her monthly heartworm and flea prevention, like any dog. She is a low-maintenance girl and will just need an occasional bath and nail trims to keep her looking and feeling her absolute best. Other Animals: Bonnie has experience with small, laid-back dogs and cats too.     Children: Because she can be a bit mouthy with play biting, Bonnie would do best in a home with respectful children 8 years and older.  Ideal Home: Bonnie isn't choosy as to her type of home.  This wiggle-butt would be happy in a single-family home, condo or apartment.  Her desire is to find a home where her human is home more often than not.    After a day of play, this active girl is happy to curl up in the “people bed” at night.  Overall: If you have a home filled with love, patience, consistency and a good sense of humor, Bonnie just might be the one for you.  We are confident that she will thrive and become the best girl she can be.  Think Bonnie is for you? Please visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org (http://www.poodleandpoochrescue.org/) and submit an adoption application. If it looks like a good fit, her foster family will reach out with more information.  Bonnie’s adoption donation is $450. ##2828170##
