Story
Is your lap big enough for me??? My name is Rudy and I'm looking for someone who needs a cuddle buddy! I'm an older guy (around 10 years old) who was wandering around as a stray until some nice people picked me up. I don't understand why my owners didn't come to find me. While I was wandering around, I got a sore spot on the top of my head. The nice people at FMAR are taking such good care of me. Dr. Sarabeth cleaned it up and I'm keeping a bandage on it while I'm healing. Other than that, I'm in pretty good shape for my age.If you have room in your heart and home for me, I'm waiting to meet you! Please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $275, which covers all of the medical care I have received.**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41) completely. This must be in a .jpeg format. If you are unable to send in this format, please be prepared to provide this documentation in another way prior to adoption.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other dogs/cats. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Taki is a sweet and playful boy who sure can't wait to meet you and your family! This happy-go-lucky pup enjoys long walks to sniff and explore before coming home to romp around the yard with you. He enjoys playing chase with his favorite people, as well as chasing after tennis balls. You won't be able to help but laugh as you watch his goofy bouncing as he tries to catch the ball! Sometimes, Taki can forget his manners when he is excited and may jump up. He may be best suited for a home with older children and we recommend he meet any children in the home before adoption. Taki would also like to meet any resident dogs before going home with you. He was interested in meeting other dogs at the shelter but would quickly become overwhelmed and move away or ignore the other dog. He would likely do best with a calm, social dog who will give him space as he needs it, though he may be most comfortable being the only pup in your home. Does Taki sound like the right match for you? Ask about him today! Ideal home for Taki:- recommend children meet, may do best with older children- must meet dogs, may prefer to be the only dog in home
