Meet DollyJane Pug (Dolly for short)!
DollyJane is a 4-year-old pug, former breeding momma, professional snuggler, part-time comedian, and certified adorable. She has recently discovered that retirement from motherhood means she gets to spend her days doing much more important things—like napping on the couch, following her people around, and being told how cute she is all day long.
And honestly? She deserves every bit of it.
DollyJane is a sweet, silly little girl who is still figuring out this whole being a dog thing. She can be a bit nervous and needs some encouragement (and occasionally a lift) when it comes to the great outdoors. For now, she needs to be carried through doorways to go outside and will need a physically fenced yard, as she is still hesitant about walking on a leash. She IS improving, though, and we're hoping her confidence will continue to grow with a patient family and lots of positive reinforcement.
She is also doing well with her potty training! Her new family will need to be committed to taking her outside on a regular schedule and continuing to help her be successful.
DollyJane is dog-friendly and cat-friendly, so she is happy to share her home with four-legged siblings. She also has a very important message for any potential adopters: she is much tougher than she looks. DollyJane will occasionally put on her big, tough pug persona, but underneath that bravado is a little girl who is basically a marshmallow.
As for the crate… DollyJane will tolerate it. She may file a brief formal complaint for a few minutes after being put inside, but eventually settles down. Given the choice, however, she would strongly prefer to be right next to you on the couch, preferably touching you in at least three places.
DollyJane came into foster care with a UTI and urinary crystals. She is currently doing well on prescription food and will need to have her urine rechecked in approximately 3–6 months to determine whether she needs to remain on the prescription diet or can eventually transition to a regular diet. Her future family will need to be comfortable following up with her veterinarian and continuing to monitor this.
DollyJane is spayed, fully vetted, and up to date on all vaccinations. She is ready for a home where she can finally be someone's spoiled little companion and continue learning that life is pretty great when you're loved.
🏡 A few things DollyJane is looking for:
• A physically fenced yard
• A family willing to continue working patiently on her confidence and leash skills
• Someone who can take her outside on a consistent potty schedule
• A home where she can get plenty of snuggles and attention
• Dog and/or cat siblings are welcome!
• A family who understands that she may need a little extra patience as she continues adjusting to life outside the breeding world
DollyJane is being fostered in Lancaster, PA. Her potential family will need to be willing to make two trips to Lancaster—one trip for a meet-and-greet with all members of the household, and a second trip to complete her adoption and take her home.
This girl may need a little time to come out of her shell, but once she does, you're going to have yourself a silly, snuggly, slightly dramatic little pug who is absolutely convinced that she runs the household.
She's not wrong.
