Story
Meet Hazel Hazel is a 7‑year‑old, 24‑pound “Jug” — a Jack Russell Terrier / Pug mix — and she is truly a delight. Surrendered by a Lancaster commercial breeder when she was no longer wanted, Hazel is now ready for a future filled with love, fun, and comfort. Hazel has quickly become a playgroup star in our care. She is friendly with other dogs, social, and confident, and she brings a happy, easygoing energy wherever she goes. With people, Hazel is just as wonderful — affectionate, friendly with all our volunteers, and always happy to soak up attention. Described best as a happy‑go‑lucky little potato, Hazel has that perfect blend of charm, personality, and sweetness that makes her impossible not to love. She enjoys companionship, does well in social settings, and would thrive in a home that appreciates her joyful spirit and friendly nature. Hazel is looking for a loving family to spoil her and celebrate her for exactly who she is. If you’re searching for a fun, affectionate dog who gets along well with others and brings smiles wherever she goes, Hazel may be your perfect match. She would need to meet any resident dogs. She will come spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. She also already had a dental and is scheduled to address her cherry eye. She can be adopted while she waits for her appointment and the rescue will remain responsible for the cost of the cherry eye (Scheduled for 4/7) If you are serious about adoption, please fill out the adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com Her adoption fee is $500. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Layla is a shy, gentle dog who will need a patient family willing to earn her trust and work with her at her own pace. She would thrive with another small dog in the home and needs a securely fenced yard to explore safely. Layla is good with cats but is not recommended for a home with young children. With time, love, and consistency, she will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. REQUIREMENTS: Another small dog,  Fenced Yard Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Meet Gertie — your future couch potato, personal comedian, and full-time love bug 💕 Gertie is a 5-year-old, 57-pound English Bulldog with a heart as big as her squishy cheeks and a personality that can only be described as pure potato perfection. If you’ve ever dreamed of a best friend who believes personal space is optional and kisses are mandatory… congratulations, you’ve found your girl. This sweet lady is a professional snuggler who takes her job very seriously. Her ideal day? You, a comfy couch, and approximately 14 uninterrupted hours of Netflix. Gertie will happily “Netflix and chill” for as long as you allow — and by allow, she means require. She’s the kind of girl who believes every moment is better spent together, preferably touching. Now, let’s address her signature move: getting onto the couch. Gertie may need a little boost at first, but once she’s committed, she transforms into something truly magical — a sort of slow-motion, determined shimmy that closely resembles a beached whale finding its way back to sea. It’s not graceful. It’s not fast. But it is incredibly endearing and 100% worth watching every single time. At 57 pounds, Gertie is currently embracing her “extra cuddly” era. While we would never call a lady “chunky” to her face, she is working toward a healthier weight to help her feel her best. She’ll need a forever family committed to continuing her wellness journey — ideally one that understands that snacks are love, but moderation is also love. Gertie didn’t have the easiest start. She arrived with a severe UTI (we’re talking the scary kind), but after medical care, medications, and prescription food, she’s feeling so much better and ready to leave that chapter behind her. She also recently enjoyed a full glow-up during her “SPA(y) day,” which included: Spay surgery Dental cleaning Entropion correction In other words, she is now fully polished, refreshed, and adoption-ready 💅 When it comes to friends, Gertie is a social sweetheart. She does great with other dogs and is happy to coexist peacefully. She’s not exactly the life of the party, but she will occasionally bless her housemates with a short, hilarious round of “bitey face” before returning to her true passion: relaxing. She hasn’t met cats yet, but testing can be arranged for interested adopters. One thing Gertie doesn’t love? Crates. In fact, she has made it very clear that she possesses hidden Hulk strength, having bent and broken a few wire crates in her time. If crating is necessary, she’ll require a heavy-duty setup — and her foster mom will happily give you all the insider tips. Gertie is also working on her potty training. She’s making progress, but between learning new routines and the confusing spring weather, she still has occasional accidents. She’ll need a patient adopter who can provide consistency, encouragement, and maybe a few “you’ve got this, queen” pep talks. At the end of the day, Gertie is exactly what so many families are looking for: Loyal Loving Low-key Hilariously charming She’s the kind of dog who will turn ordinary days into cozy, joy-filled moments — the kind who makes a house feel like home just by existing (and snoring softly beside you). If you’re ready for a life filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of bulldog cuddles… Gertie is ready for you 🐾 www.zoeshouserescue.com Zoe’s House Rescue Kennel License 9117 Sinking Spring, PA 19608

Story
Hello! I am Sprite! I am a 1.5 year old spayed female Boston terrier. I am a just a tiny little thing, at only 15lbs. I am happy-go-lucky, silly, playful, and busy busy busy! I was surrendered to the rescue from a farm, and I am learning all about life as a family pet. I am doing great with potty training, but it is a work in progress. My forever family will need to anticipate helping me finish learning. I am also working on learning what is a dog toy and what is not…I just LOVE to play and everything looks like so much fun! I like balls, bones, hockey pucks, and stuffies - but my favorite thing is hand towels! I don’t destroy the towels, but I love to shake them and roll around on the floor while wrapping myself up in them. I didn’t get a lot of 1-1 attention prior to the rescue taking me, and I am learning about being cuddled and loved. I am not yet used to asking for affection, but I’m very tolerant when I’m held. When I crash after playing, I like to lay on the couch near my foster mom. I have had eye issues in the past that left small scars on my corneas. I can see well in the daytime, and I get around well, but my foster mama jokes that I need glasses. Sometimes I trip over my toys, and it’s tough to find my ball after dark. Otherwise I am not bothered at all! My eyes are not anticipated to get worse, and I require no current treatments. I am very athletic and I can jump fences. My forever family will need to either always keep me on a leash outside, or have a fence over 5 feet so I can’t go over it. Currently I don’t know any obedience skills, but I am very smart and I would LOVE to go to puppy classes! My foster mama has started teaching me things, and it is so fun to learn! Currently I am crated when alone, but I don’t like to be crated, and I really can’t yet be trusted loose in the house. I am looking for someone who is home most of the time and can provide a dog safe space for me when they aren’t home. My foster mom can help with a plan to create this safe space! I love other dogs, but my go, go, go energy can be exhausting for my older foster siblings. I would love to be adopted into a home with another young playful dog like myself! My foster home also has cats and a rabbit. I get along with them, but I do need to be supervised since I will chase them if they run from me! If you’re looking for a fun, adorable, active new pup, I could be your girl! Sprite is spayed, vaccinated, HW negative, and up to date on flea/worm preventions. She is being fostered in southern lancaster county and interested adopters must be willing to come to her foster home to meet her.
