Please read the bio in full for answers to common questions. If you have a question not covered here, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Because all of our dogs live in foster homes, meet-and-greets are scheduled only after a completed application is received. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance of Wilmington, DE so our volunteers can conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Princess June 👑 At 10 years old and just 17 pounds, Princess June is a petite Pug with a wonderfully easygoing personality and a very important list of priorities: food, exploring, and being treated like the princess she is.  June came to Senior Dog Haven & Hospice as a stray from ACCT with a URI. She has since received the veterinary care she needed, including a spay, dental, and treatment for her ears and eyes. She is also on medication to help manage her ongoing needs. June is fully housebroken, crate trained, and wonderfully quiet. In fact, her foster mom has only heard her bark twice in 47 days—and both times, she says, it was adorable and very quiet. She does occasionally make the tiniest little yelps in her sleep, though.  June’s biggest challenge is her mobility. She has difficulty walking and may limp at times. She can also have trouble getting up from a lying position, particularly on smooth floors. Sometimes she needs a little encouragement to get moving, but once she’s up and going, she does just fine. Because of this, June cannot do stairs and will need a home where stairs can be avoided. Rugs or other nonslip surfaces would also be helpful. Despite her mobility limitations, June has a curious little personality. She LOVES to wander around outside and explore, which is one of the few activities she can really enjoy. A securely fenced yard—even a small one—would be wonderful for her. Her foster mom says June will happily investigate bushes, piles of sticks, open closets, cabinets, and pantries. Sometimes she explores a little too enthusiastically and gets herself stuck, requiring her humans to come rescue her.  June is good with children and would be comfortable with kids of any age as long as they are gentle with her. She seems like she would probably do well with other animals, too, although that hasn’t been fully confirmed. She’s more of an independent girl than a constant cuddlebug, although she’s beginning to enjoy cuddling for short periods. She walks nicely on a leash, doesn’t mind being picked up or handled, and sleeps peacefully in her crate. Her ideal home isn’t complicated: a loving family that understands June isn’t going to be playing fetch or running around the yard. She simply wants to be comfortable, well-fed, loved, and given the freedom to explore at her own leisurely pace. And according to June, there are only three things standing between her and a perfect life: stairs, gravity, and baths.  If you’re looking for a quiet, chill little companion with a curious streak and a whole lot of personality, Princess June may be your girl.

Story
Say Hello to Miss Clara! Miss Clara is an approx. 6-year-old Panda Pug, weighing 16lbs, rescued from a commercial breeder and life of breeding. Miss Clara is a sassy, sweet and funny girl that is loving life and all the pets and attention she can get! She will happily sit beside you on the sofa if not on you! Just look at that face…she is a Beauty! Clara enjoys exploring the world around her with walks on a leash (temperature permitting) with her tail waving the entire time! Because of her love for adventure, she would do best in a securely fenced yard where she can safely satisfy her curiosity. She will steal your heart very quickly!! Her foster mom really thinks she is a Great Girl! Clara resides currently with three resident dogs and a bird. She is great with all size dogs! Clara is doing well with house training and does go outside regularly to potty, but will need someone to keep her on a routine so she can be the best girl. Regression is expected when moving into a new forever home. Clara may be a little shy when you first meet her, but once she feels safe, she warms up quickly. Clara is kept in a play pen area (no crates for this girl) when foster family is not home, although she is not a fan. She would prefer someone that is home more than not. She does sleep in bed at night with her family! Clara is Spayed, microchipped, has had a dental and UTD on vaccinations. When she had her dental, Clara did lose all her teeth except 3. When it is time to eat, all you need to do is wet her kibble approximately 30 minutes prior and she will happily gobble it up. She does, of course, enjoy some wet food on top. Is this precious Clara girl the right fit for you and your family? Visit www.zoeshouserescue.com to apply today! • Please note: Clara is being fostered in Sinking Spring, PA. A separate meet and greet with the potential adopter and all resident pets are required near Sinking Spring prior to final approval, as well as pickup for adoption.

Story
Don`t let his age fool you - Jux is a 10-year-old pug mix with the heart (and energy!) of a much younger dog. This goofy little guy is always ready to play, and if you ask our staff, they`ll tell you he looks like an adorable little chupacabra in the best way possible. His unique looks just make him that much more lovable! Jux is a social butterfly who is open to meeting other pets and kids of any age. His absolute favorite thing in the world? Toys! Whether it`s squeaky toys, plushies, or balls, Jux is happiest when he has something fun to carry around or play with. When playtime is over, Jux is more than happy to settle in for some relaxation with the people he loves. He`s a sweet, affectionate boy who is looking for a family that will spoil him with love, cozy places to nap, and, of course, plenty of toys. Jux does have some health challenges that require extra care, so he`s looking for a dedicated adopter who is committed to helping him feel his best. In return, he`ll reward you with endless smiles, laughter, and unwavering companionship. If you`re looking for a one-of-a-kind best friend with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Jux might just be the dog for you!If you are interested in adopting, please visit Women`s Animal Center to fill out an application in person.
