Story
Meet Wanda!
Wanda is a sweet girl who recently arrived to us as part of a puppy mill release and is now starting the journey of learning what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family.
As a puppy mill survivor, Wanda is still adjusting to a world that is very new to her. She may be shy or unsure when first meeting new people or experiencing new environments, but with patience and gentle encouragement, she is beginning to show her softer, more trusting side.
Wanda is crate trained, which helps her feel secure, but she is not yet house trained and will need a patient family willing to help her continue learning with consistency and kindness.
In her previous environment, Wanda lived around children and did well with other dogs. With slow, proper introductions, she would likely also do well with cats.
Watching a puppy mill survivor discover the comforts of a home is a gradual but incredibly rewarding process. Every small step forward—whether it’s relaxing nearby, exploring a new space, or seeking out reassurance—represents meaningful progress.
Wanda is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can continue to build confidence at her own pace. In return, she has the potential to become a deeply loyal and loving companion.
If you have the patience and heart to help a shy dog blossom, Wanda may be the perfect addition to your family.
Wanda is availible for foster to adopt within 30 minutes of our shelter while we complete her medical.
All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at https://www.sftsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs
