Story
On New Year’s Eve, as heavy rain fell in Victorville, California, a homeless man pleaded for help—not for himself, but for his three dogs. We received a text from a Good Samaritan who was willing to pick them up and bring them to us if we could take them in. Chihuahuas are among the least adoptable dogs and, heartbreakingly, are some of the most euthanized in California shelters. Shelter Hope is full of them too. But on this New Year’s Day, we somehow found room for three more. Matty LeBlanc is a 1.5-year-old, 15-pound Pug-Chihuahua mix. He’s a little more on the timid side compared to his brother, but his sweet nature shines through. He bears a few scars on his face and chest—likely from a past encounter with another dog—but they haven’t dulled his spirit. He adores people, loves being petted, and is always eager for attention. He does well with other dogs with a slow one on one introduction. Full of enthusiasm and affection, we’re excited to see more of his personality shine as he settles in. Now fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, Matty is ready for his second chance! ---- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Step 1) Application Step 2) Phone Interview Step 3) Appointment Shelter Hope is operating by appointment only. Be ready to adopt: If selected, our rescue counselor will contact you to schedule a phone interview. Please monitor your email and spam folder for our message. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. More on our process: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!

Story
I am trying to place a bonded pair. Penny is a sweet pug-mix. She is almost four years old. Her bond-mate is named Taco, he is also a pug mix and is about the same age as Penny. They are both good with kids and good with cats with some monitoring (they have lived with my cats for the last three years). They are both very sweet and friendly, a bit high energy at first, but they settle down fairly quickly. Penny is super friendly, but she can sometimes try to be the "alpha" with other dogs. She has never been aggressive with people or cats.

Story
Kiwi and Mimi were used by breeders in a remote area north of Los Angeles and then dumped. They were found together and we think they are mother and daughter. They love each other and play and cuddle together as the best of friends. Kiwi and Mimi are both very person oriented and will gratefully soak up affection at the slightest invitation. They both enjoy going for walks and are leash trained and are excellent hiking companions. Kiwi and Mimi are also superb cuddle companions and love to snuggle up with you or just sunbathe. They are healthy, house trained, spayed, current on all vaccines and microchipped. Adoption only open to Southern California residents. We do not foster / adopt any of our dogs to households with children under 10 years old. A foster / adoption application must be filled out PRIOR to anyone meeting any of our dogs. To obtain an application go to www.deathrowdogsrescue.com, or contact drdrescue@gmail.com, or (818) 722-1810

Story
Gidget is a five-year-old, 13-pound Chihuahua with a heart full of love and a personality that will steal yours. She was picked up by Riverside shelter as a stray and was terribly scared and shy, and would not come to anyone. Plus being a Black dog, no one showed interest in her and she was put on the euthenasia list... We stepped in to pull her, and after Gidget was given some space and time, she now comes to you and wants to be petted, held and is full of affection! Not once has she ever growled, shown her teeth or tried to bite. Gidget is incredibly loyal, intelligent, and brave—always curious and quick to warm up when she feels safe. She is a really good little companion girl! Gidget's the perfect combination of cuddly and playful, and she especially enjoys wrestling with other small dogs. She is quiet, well-mannered, and has a mellow, calming energy that makes her an ideal companion for a peaceful home. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her vaccinations, and fully dog-door trained. Gidget is currently in foster care in Victorville, CA, and is ready to find her forever home. Adoption fee: $350 To meet Gidget or request an adoption application, please email: Alphadogpetrescue@yahoo.com Give this little sweetheart a chance—you won’t regret it!
