Story
Meet Abigail — a 7&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 6 lb Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix with a heart as soft as the cozy blankets she loves to curl up in.   Quick Facts: Name: Abigail Breed: Chihuahua/Pomeranian Mix Age: 7 years old Weight: 6 lbs. House-Trained: Yes (and pee pad trained) Crate-Trained: No Good with Dogs: Yes (prefers calmer dogs) Good with Cats: Not yet tested Good with Kids: Yes Energy Level: Low (couch potato/snuggle buddy) Fence Required: No, but preferred if you have a fence   About Abigail Breed: Our best guess is that Abigail is a Chihuahua/Pomeranian mixed breed. A Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix is a tiny, affectionate companion with a lively personality and a big heart. They’re smart, people&#226&#128&#145oriented, and love being close to their family. Their ideal home is a calm, loving environment where they get plenty of attention, gentle structure, and short bursts of play or activity. They thrive with owners who enjoy snuggles, companionship, and having a little shadow by their side.   What to Love about Abigail: Abigail is fully house trained and pee&#226&#128&#145pad trained, and because she’s so respectful and calm at home, she doesn’t need a crate and can be trusted while you’re away. She doesn’t love being left alone, though, and would be happiest with someone who is home often or with a gentle doggie companion to keep her company.   She’s not a big fan of leashes, but she enjoys exploring the yard and never wanders far from her person. A fenced yard isn’t required—she simply prefers to toddle around freely rather than walk on a leash. Abigail is incredibly friendly with everyone, including kids, and she gets along well with other dogs, especially those who are calm like she is. She hasn’t met cats yet, but her mellow nature suggests she’d likely do just fine.   With her low energy level, Abigail is all about snuggling! She warms up quickly despite being a little scared at first, and once she trusts you, she becomes the sweetest little shadow—happy to be in your lap, beside your kids, or nestled into a soft bed. She is gentle, quiet, and endlessly affectionate!   Abigail is a tiny, tender soul looking for a peaceful home where she can be loved, held, and cherished. Whoever adopts her will gain a devoted snuggle buddy and one of the sweetest companions imaginable!     Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Meet Capri — a 1&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old Chihuahua mix with a heart full of sweetness and a mission in life: to be loved, snuggled, and curled up in your lap.   Quick Facts: Name: Capri Breed: Chihuahua Mix Age: 1 year old Weight: 6.6 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it (doing well with going outside and on pee pads)! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes Energy Level: Low (total lap pet) Fence Required: No   About Capri’s Breed: Our best guess is that Capri is a Chihuahua mixed breed. Chihuahuas are known for their big personalities in tiny bodies, often forming incredibly strong bonds with their favorite people. They’re affectionate, expressive, and loyal companions who love to snuggle just as much as they enjoy exploring the world at their own pace. Despite their small size, they’re confident, alert, and full of charm.   An ideal home for a Chihuahua is one that offers gentle handling, consistency, and plenty of companionship. They thrive with families who appreciate their sensitive nature and can provide a calm, loving environment. Because they bond so closely with their humans, they do especially well in homes where someone is around often and where their cozy, cuddly side can shine.     What to Love about Capri: Capri is the definition of a true companion. She is quite the lovebug, so if you’re sitting down, she’s already on her way to claim her favorite spot… right on you!   Capri is doing wonderfully with her potty training and even uses a pee pad in the home. With a bit of consistency and routine, she’ll keep improving. She’s crate trained and can relax in her crate when you’re away, though she’d much prefer to be with her people — especially if they have an open lap. She adores everyone she meets, including kids, and she’s been fantastic with other dogs, cats, and even farm animals like goats and chickens.   She’s a gentle, easygoing, and slightly submissive little lady who may get spooked but recovers quickly. Her foster mom has never even heard her bark! Capri is a low&#226&#128&#145energy couch potato at heart, but she enjoys going for walks and exploring the outdoors before settling in for a cozy nap. Did we mention how much she loves being in any open lap??   Her favorite pastime, though, is being carried, cuddled, and doted on — her foster family lovingly calls her Capri Sun because she’s just that sweet!   Capri’s Highlights: 1&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old Chihuahua mix with a loving, lap&#226&#128&#145dog personality Potty training is going well; also knows how to use a pee pad Crate trained and can stay in a crate when you’re away Adores everyone — especially kids who love to snuggle Great with dogs, cats, and even farm animals like goats and chickens Low&#226&#128&#145energy, easygoing, and more on the submissive side Loves walks but is happiest napping in your lap Rarely barks and has wonderful house manners Ideal for someone who is home often and ready to give her all the cuddles she craves   Capri is a joyful, affectionate, go&#226&#128&#145with&#226&#128&#145the&#226&#128&#145flow companion who will make someone incredibly happy. If you’re home often and have room in your heart (and your lap), she’s ready to be your little shadow and your best friend!     Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Meet Boomer — a 1&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 16 lb Chihuahua mix with a tender heart, a silly streak, and a deep love for canine companionship.   Quick Facts: Name: Boomer Breed: Chihuahua Mix Age: 1 year old Weight: 16 lbs. House-Trained: Not yet Crate-Trained: No Good with Dogs: Yes (must have a companion dog in his forever home) Good with Cats: Likely ok Good with Kids: Preferably no – may do fine with older, calm children Energy Level: Medium Fence Required: Yes   About Boomer’s Breed: Our best guess is that Boomer is a Chihuahua mixed breed. Chihuahuas are bold, confident and loyal. They are affectionate with their people but can be wary of strangers but warm up quickly. They are intelligent and trainable, though they may be a little stubborn at times, but they keep it interesting! They are also known to be vocal and love to “chit chat”!   All About Boomer: Boomer is still working on his potty and crate training, but he does well when left uncrated with pee pads. Because of his rough and unknown past, he needs a little time to warm up and can be nervous around new people. He responds especially well to calm, gentle female energy and would do best in a kid&#226&#128&#145free home, as sudden movements can overwhelm him. Boomer would really love a home where someone would be with him, for most of the day, or not be gone for more than 5-6 hours per day.   What truly helps Boomer shine is the presence of another dog. He gains confidence from canine friends, loves playing with them, and even shares his toys beautifully. He hasn’t met cats yet, but given how well he does with dogs of all sizes, he would likely do fine with feline friends too.   Boomer has a medium energy level—he enjoys playtime and long walks but isn’t overly energetic. Once he trusts the person holding the leash, he walks nicely and has an easygoing, submissive play style. He would thrive with an experienced, patient owner, ideally someone familiar with small dogs or hoarder&#226&#128&#145rescue backgrounds who can offer gentle structure and consistent training. Once Boomer feels safe, his personality blossoms! He becomes a silly, sweet little guy who loves carrying his lamb chop toy around, sneaking socks when no one’s looking, and soaking up chest and chin scratches. His zoomies before walks or after baths are absolutely adorable and show just how joyful he can be.   Boomer’s Highlights: 1 year old, 16 lbs, Chihuahua mix Needs a dog companion for confidence and comfort Best in a kid&#226&#128&#145free, calm home Medium energy, loves walks and playtime Nervous at first but becomes sweet, silly, and affectionate Good with dogs, likely good with cats Needs a patient, experienced owner Loves toys, snuggles, and showing off his zoomies   Boomer is a gentle soul who just needs the right person and the right dog friend to help him feel safe. Once he trusts you, he becomes the sweetest, funniest little companion—full of love, quirks, and charm.       Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
