You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. INTERESTED IN MEETING OR ADOPTING MARTHA from Best Friend Pet Adoption rescue? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC   Meet   Martha   – a happy, curious, and full of gentle sweetness little senior with so much love to give.  Martha is the kind of dog who reminds you that the best things in life are simple: a cozy couch, a warm sunbeam, and a home where she’s finally part of the family. After spending most of her life outdoors in a kennel, Martha is discovering just how wonderful indoor life can be—and she’s absolutely charmed by it all. This lovely girl has a low energy level, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys a relaxed pace. She loves to sniff around the yard, explore new things, and then curl up for a peaceful nap—preferably in a sunny spot on the couch. Every now and then she’ll surprise you with a burst of adorable zoomies or a little wrestling match with one of her dog friends. Martha is very friendly with people and gets along beautifully with other dogs. In fact, she currently lives with a rotating group of foster pups and does great with all of them. While she could be an only dog, she would probably love having a canine buddy or two to share her days with. She’s also a wonderful house guest. Martha is crate trained and does very well when crated at night or while her foster is at work. She’s mostly housebroken, with only the occasional accident, especially while learning a new routine. With patience and consistency in a new home, she’ll master it. Because she spent much of her life outside, Martha still finds everyday household items fascinating. When she first arrives, you might catch her curiously carrying off a shoe, pillow, remote, or even a small rug—not out of mischief, but pure excitement at all these new treasures! It’s part of her adorable charm as she learns what home life is all about. She’s a quiet dog, rarely barking unless the rest of the pack gets excited. She could do well in many homes, including an apartment, as long as her new family understands she may need a little time to settle into a new routine. She rides in the car but can sometimes get carsick, so she’s probably more of a homebody than a road-trip companion. What Martha wants most is something she’s never truly had before: a soft place to land and someone to love her through her golden years. She doesn’t need much—just kindness, patience, and a comfy couch to call her own. If you’re looking for a gentle, soulful companion who will appreciate every bit of love you give, Martha may be the perfect addition to your home. And giving this sweet senior the life she’s always deserved will be one of the most rewarding decisions you’ll ever make.  Martha is going through treatment for heartworm disease.   Best Friend Pet Adoption will provide medical care and cost while she is going through this treatment.  This is not contagious and she is fine to be around other pets.   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants ideally should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants that live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING MARTHA? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Lester – A Gentle Soul Looking for His New Home LESTERS STORY: After there was a death in the family who owned Lester, they realized they could no longer care for Lester.  They surrender him to a shelter.  A kind person rescued him from possible euthanasia at a full shelter.  Best Friend Pet Adoption is now helping the rescuer find a permanent home for this sweet boy.    Don’t let the “senior” label fool you—Lester still has plenty of love, curiosity, and companionship to give. This handsome   50–55 lb tricolor hound mix,  is estimated to be around 10-11 years old , and he’s in impressively good shape. In fact, he can still hop right into the back of a car and happily head out for his next adventure. Lester is the definition of a well-mannered gentleman. Since arriving in his foster home, he has been easygoing, adaptable, and incredibly pleasant to have around. He has a calm, “go with the flow” personality that makes him a wonderful companion for a relaxed household. This sweet boy enjoys daily walks to stretch his legs and sniff the world, followed by long, cozy naps. He’s crate trained, housebroken, and great on a leash, which means he will transitions easily into a new routine. Whether you live in a house or an apartment, Lester is perfectly content as long as he gets his walks and time with his people. Lester is friendly with new people and does well with other calm, well-mannered dogs. Because he prefers a peaceful environment, a quieter home would suit him best. He would also be happy as your one and only dog. Cats aren’t really his thing, so a cat-free home   would be ideal. What truly makes Lester special is his gentle, affectionate nature. He’s the kind of dog who simply wants to be near his people, enjoying the comfort and security of a loving home. After sadly losing his family, Lester ended up in a shelter and was at risk of euthanasia. Thankfully, he found a safe foster home—but what he really deserves is a forever family to spend his golden years with. If you’re looking for a loyal companion, a calm walking buddy, and a loving presence in your home, Lester might just be your perfect match. DISCLAIMER: We hope you'll consider adopting Lester. He is a courtesy listed dog.  This means that he is not a part of or associated with Best Friend Pet Adoption (BFPA). The bio information listed for him was provided by his rescuer and not generated or verified by BFPA. Adoption arrangements will be a private arrangement between you and the rescuer.  As with any dog adoption, BFPA encourages potential adopters to gain as much information as possible before adopting. This includes temperament testing and verification of vet records to ensure the dog is in good health, UTD on vaccinations and has been sterilized. For more information about Lester , please contact Marissa at mlf61083@yahoo.com or text her at  919 389-1197.  You do NOT need to submit an application to Best Friend Pet Adoption.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 18, 2026, 10:35 am

Story
He is a gentle, loving dog with a soft and sensitive personality. While he may be a little shy when meeting new people, he forms strong bonds with those he trusts and loves being close to his family. He’s especially great with kids and shows a lot of patience and kindness around them. Because he’s sensitive, loud noises can sometimes make him anxious, so he appreciates a calm and comforting environment. He also enjoys spending time outdoors—walking along trails, exploring new scents, and having space to run around in a backyard. Once he feels safe, his affectionate and loyal nature really shines, making him a wonderful and devoted companion. I would love to keep Neo but he does require more love and attention than I can provide at the moment.
