Story
Penelope is a 2‑month‑old, 5‑lb Pug/Chihuahua mix with a loving little heart and the softest, sweetest presence!   Quick Facts: Name: Penelope Breed: Pug/Chihuahua mix Age: 2 months old Weight: 5 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: No Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes Energy Level: Playful (puppy energy) Fence Required: No Dog's Location: Fremont, NC   About Penelope’s Breed: Our best guess is that Penelope is a Pug/Chihuahua mixed breed. Pug/Chihuahua mix puppies — often called Chugs — are bright, expressive, affectionate little companions who blend the Pug’s cuddly, people‑loving nature with the Chihuahua’s bold, curious spark. They’re typically playful, social, and full of personality, with a roly‑poly charm and a big desire to be part of whatever their humans are doing. As puppies, they love exploring, learning, and snuggling, and they thrive when they feel safe, included, and understood.   Their ideal home is one that offers gentle structure, companionship, and consistent puppy training. Chug puppies do wonderfully with families who enjoy playtime, positive reinforcement, and helping a small dog grow into a confident adult. They’re great for homes that appreciate a mix of independence and affection — a pup who will happily explore but also curl up in your lap. With patience, love, and a stable routine, Pug/Chihuahua mixes become incredibly devoted, joyful little shadows.   What to Love about Penelope: Penelope is the kind of puppy who melts right into your arms, happy to be held, cuddled, and doted on. She enjoys playing with her siblings, exploring her world, and learning all the fun parts of being a puppy — but she also has a calm, tender side that makes her a perfect snuggle companion. She’s wonderful with kids, friendly with other dogs and cats, and full of gentle curiosity.   Penelope is working on her potty training and will thrive with a family committed to helping her continue her puppy basics so she can grow into the goodest girl she’s meant to be. She loves toys, enjoys following her siblings on little adventures, and has a naturally affectionate personality that makes her easy to fall in love with. Penelope is a tiny bundle of sweetness, joy, and love — and she can’t wait to find her perfect forever family!   Penelope’s Perfect Highlights: 2‑month‑old, 5‑lb Pug/Chihuahua mix with a soft, gentle presence Sweet, loving personality who melts right into your arms Calm but playful — enjoys toys and exploring with her siblings Wonderful with kids thanks to her gentle, affectionate nature Friendly with other dogs and polite in new situations Cuddly companion who loves snuggle time just as much as playtime Curious little learner discovering the world with soft confidence Working on potty training and ready for a family committed to puppy basics Gentle, affectionate energy perfect for a loving home Ready to find her perfect family and grow into the goodest girl   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Teddy is a 3‑year‑old, 20‑lb Pug/Chihuahua mix with a tender heart, a shy soul, and a deep love for being close to his people!   Quick Facts: Name: Teddy Breed: Pug/Chihuahua Mix Age: 3 years old Weight: 20 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! (He uses pee pads but does have an occasional accident) Crate-Trained: No Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested, but open to a meet and greet Good with Kids: Yes (only older, respectful kids who are calm and patient with him) Energy Level: Medium Fence Required: No, but Teddy loves exploring the yard, so a fence is preferred! Dog's Location: Holly Springs, NC Special Note: Teddy does have separation anxiety and would love to find a family who is home more often than not, or can take him with them on their outings!   About Teddy’s Breed: Our best guess is that Teddy is a Pug/Chihuahua mixed breed. Pug/Chihuahua mixes — often called Chug dogs — are bright, affectionate little companions who blend the Pug’s cuddly, people‑loving nature with the Chihuahua’s alert, sensitive personality. They’re expressive, loyal, and happiest when they feel connected to their humans. Many are playful and charming, but also prone to timidity or anxiety if they haven’t had consistent reassurance in their early life.   Their ideal home is one that offers steady companionship, gentle handling, and a calm, patient environment. These mixes thrive with families who are home often, enjoy including their dog in daily routines, and understand that sensitive pups need time to warm up. They do best with people who can provide structure, positive reinforcement, and lots of affection. With a loving, attentive household, Pug/Chihuahua mixes blossom into devoted, snuggly, joyful little shadows who simply want to feel safe and adored.   What to Love about Teddy: Once he feels safe, Teddy becomes the sweetest little shadow — happiest snuggled beside you, following you from room to room, or running joyfully around the yard! He is timid at first and may growl or bark when meeting new people or when someone re‑enters a room, but with slow introductions, patience, and gentle reassurance, he warms up beautifully. He truly just needs someone who understands anxious dogs and will give him the time he needs to feel brave.   Teddy prefers a home where his humans are around often or will include him in their daily adventures — he struggles with being left alone, even with other dogs, and doesn’t enjoy being crated. He gets along with the resident dogs in his foster home but mostly chooses to be near his people. He walks nicely in the neighborhood, hasn’t met cats yet, and is open to a meet‑and‑greet. Teddy is working on his potty training, uses pee pads, and may have occasional accidents. He’s not destructive, though he may jump or knock things over when anxious, so crating is only needed in spaces with breakable items.   A fenced yard would be a bonus for Teddy since he loves the freedom to run and explore! His happiest place is right next to his humans, soaking up affection and feeling secure. With a patient, loving family — ideally one familiar with anxious pups or with older children — Teddy will blossom into the devoted, snuggly little companion he’s meant to be!   Teddy’s Top Highlights: 3‑year‑old, 20‑lb Pug/Chihuahua mix with a sweet, sensitive soul Deeply people‑oriented — happiest when he’s with his humans, not alone Timid at first and may growl or bark initially, but warms up with patience Best with older kids or families experienced with anxious pups Gets along with small dogs but prefers human companionship over dog play Working on potty training — uses pee pads and may have occasional accidents Does not do well crated or left alone — needs a home where someone is around often Enjoys yard time and would love a fenced space to run and explore Good on neighborhood walks and open to meeting cats with a proper introduction A devoted snuggle buddy who just wants to feel safe, loved, and close to his people   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. (DOB 7/25/2024) You've seen the pictures - this dude is CUTE! Smile for days - yes; he could be on the next doggie GQ magazine! Oh, and Ralphie has the cutest walk. All eyes will oooohhh and aahhhh as he struts his stuff! Ralphie, the ultimate bundle of joy who is ready to be your new best friend! This energetic guy is a social butterfly who absolutely loves meeting new people and has been a dream to have around the house. He is currently living with three canine siblings and gets along with everyone he meets, making him a fantastic candidate for a home with or without another playful pup.  Ralphie is a leash-walking pro, so he’s perfectly content skipping the backyard games in favor of exploring the world by your side on long walks. He’s got plenty of pep in his step and a playful "jump-for-joy" attitude, so he would be a wonderful match for a family with older children who can keep up with his high-energy lifestyle. While he hasn't met any cats yet, his friendly and adaptable nature makes him a joy to be around. Keep this little guy safe when opening doors and gates. Don't let door dashing become his newest profession! Ralphie is working on his house training and perfecting his proper behavior in the home.  If you are looking for a loyal, happy, and active companion to fill your days with adventure, wrapped up in a little, cute, package, Ralphie is your guy! As part of Ralphie’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Ralphie, you can complete an application online for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2806917##

She was rescued from the Richmond SPCA about 5/6 years ago after her owners had passed and unfortunately, has found herself in the same situation. She is spayed, UTD on shots and currently on Heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick medication. She is a total love bug who impatiently waits for you to sit down on the couch or chair so she can snuggle up as close as possible for some back rubs. She loves to sleep in the bed with you as well and prefers to be under the covers. Car rides and short walks are a fav and she does very well on a leash. She is house trained, crate trained, and her foster mom is currently working on helping her lose a few pounds to make life easier on her.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.PLEASE NOTE:  Jett requires an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can meet him. Our application can be found at  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC. We will be looking for YOUR application!        FOSTER COMMENTS: Jett — a gentle, loving soul with the sweetest heart and the softest eyes. This gentle  boy may be a little timid at first, but underneath that cautious exterior is one of the most affectionate, playful, and eager-to-please pups you could ever hope to meet. Jett is completely housebroken, walks well on leash after his initial excitement, and absolutely adores praise, cuddles, and belly scratches. Tell him “good boy” and you can practically see his whole heart light up. He lives for affection and wants nothing more than to love and be loved by his people. Like many sensitive dogs, Jett takes a little time to warm up to new people and unfamiliar situations. Fast movements and loud toddler energy can overwhelm him, so he would do best in a calmer home with older children or adults who understand that trust is something earned gently and patiently. His timidness can truly tug at your heartstrings, but watching him slowly gain confidence is incredibly rewarding. One of the sweetest things about Jett is how hard he tries. Even when he’s unsure, he wants so badly to be brave. He watches, learns, and blossoms a little more every day. We truly believe there is a perfect family out there who will give him the patience, reassurance, and unconditional love he deserves. Jett gets along well with other dogs once he’s had a chance to settle in, and we think a confident canine sibling could really help show him the ropes and continue building his confidence. He’s also been neutral around cats. While he can entertain himself tossing toys in the air and playing independently, he absolutely lights up when he gets to run, play or chase. A fenced yard would be a bonus since he loves to run fast, but it’s not a must. He’s wonderful in the car, loves walk/hikes and gets especially excited when you jog alongside him. Despite his playful side and moderate-to-high energy outdoors, Jett has a calm, cuddly side in the home and is perfectly content snuggled close to his people. Personal space? Not really his thing. Kisses, cuddles, and companionship are his specialties. Whether it’s hiking, beach days, car rides, or curling up on the couch, Jett is happiest when he's by your side. He lives to make you smile, and he understands the joy of bringing happiness to his people. Jett doesn’t need a huge house or fenced yard to be happy — just a loving home willing to give him time to feel safe. In return, you’ll gain one of the most loyal, tender-hearted companions imaginable. Some dogs immediately demand attention. Jett quietly steals your heart forever   EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Jett's Mother was killed by another dog when she gave birth.  A rescue saved the puppies and bottle feed them for weeks. After they were bottle feed, Best Friend Pet Adoption admitted two of the puppies, Jett and Jax.  Jax has been adopted and now Jett is looking for his forever home. Can you provide a wonderful home for him?     Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING JETT ?
