Story
Lola is living in a foster home in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. Lola is a 9-year-old sweetheart who’s ready to settle into a calm, loving home where she can soak up all the attention she deserves. She currently lives with two other dogs and does wonderfully with them indoors. Lola is fully housetrained and welcomes new people with a happy, wagging tail—she especially enjoyed all the extra visitors and affection during the holidays! Lola was surrendered due to a change in her family’s work schedule, not through any fault of her own. She’s a laid-back girl who would thrive in a relaxed home, who either has a fenced yard or a family committed to regular walks to help her health. Lola is working on a gradual weight-loss journey, so she’ll need someone who can help her stay active and stick to healthy, portioned meals. Since she’s very food-motivated, structure and exercise will be key to her success. One of Lola’s favorite party tricks is catching treats (but please limit them) tossed gently into the air—she’s always so proud to show it off! With her sweet personality, Lola is ready to be someone’s loyal, loving best friend. Interested in adoption? The first step is an application at paddyspaws.blogspot.com. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Our rescue adopts to Wisconsin and Illinois. Our requirements for Illinois applications are: excellent vet history, no children under 7 in the home, and an owned home. Wisconsin does not have these requirements, though we will not consider applications where pets are missing core veterinary care. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once approved a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $250. Thanks to that care, Cujo is now on his way to a brighter, calmer future. Cujo can be a little nervous at first—new situations take him a moment to process—but once he feels safe, he warms up quickly and shows his true colors. He’s a sweet, quiet boy who enjoys being held and staying close to his people. He’s also on the lower-energy side, making him a great fit for a relaxed household or someone looking for a gentle companion. He does well with other dogs and cats, and would likely appreciate a home that understands small-dog sensitivities and values patience and kindness. Baby Bear is a male Chihuahua who came to us from the same situation as Cujo, after his owner had more dogs than they could manage and worked to ensure everyone found a safe place to land. Big changes can be a lot for a little dog, and Baby Bear is understandably feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. Even so, his sweet nature shines through. Baby Bear is a snuggly, affectionate boy who finds comfort in being close to his people once he feels safe. He’s gentle, loving, and clearly wants to connect—he just needs a little patience and reassurance as he adjusts to new surroundings. He's good with other dogs and cats, and very well behaved in his crate. With time, consistency, and a calm home, Baby Bear will blossom into a wonderful companion. Meet Chalula 🌶️ — a devoted mama ready for her own fresh start. Chalula is a female Chihuahua mix who came to us from MADACC after arriving there with a male Chihuahua mix and her puppies. Her puppies were adopted while at MADACC, and now Chalula’s turn has finally come to find a loving home of her very own. Chalula is a sweet girl who truly enjoys people and appreciates gentle attention and companionship. She does well with other dogs and has been great with kids. While she hasn’t been cat tested yet, we believe she would likely do well with slow, thoughtful introductions.
