Story
He was surrendered to us in 2022 when his person was too sick to care for him. He was then adopted and lived in what we thought would be his forever home, but a year and a half later they returned him back to us due to no fault of his own. He is energetic, enjoys long walks, and loves nothing more than to be right next to someone. We think he is now about 10 years old. He may be a mix of Rat Terrier and Chihuahua, but we can never be sure of that. He is hit or miss with other dogs, mostly miss, so we want to place him as an only dog (and no cats) in an adult-only home or home with older children. If you are looking for the most loyal best friend that will never leave your side, this is the guy for you. We do require visits here to our rescue in Agua Dulce, CA, and in person home checks for all adoptions.

Story
Penny was pulled from the shelter after she came in as a stray and during her stray hold she gave birth to 4 puppies. The puppies have all found great homes and now it’s Penny’s turn. She was definitely a street dog, running scared and never knowing what it is to have a place to call home. She was VERY scared and unfamiliar with having a safe/indoor home before being rescued. Thankfully her foster mom is experienced and was able to help Penny settle. She is slow to trust but once she is given some patience and love, she bonds and you have a friend for life. She is terrific with other dogs and cats. Kids, fine as long as they are older and able to read her to give her the time and space necessary to help her feel safe and not pressured. She has a fabulous snuggle tooth too!

Story
Sweet little Banjo has had such a HORRIBLE start at life, but you wouldn't know if from his willingness to trust people and love life! He was saved as a tiny puppy from a hoarder house that had 59 dogs living outside in filth, over breeding. Then put in a kennel for the first 8 months of his life! We just couldn't let him stay there one more day as a kennel is no place for a dog long term, much less a puppy. He was saved w/his kennel mate from the same hoarding situation and are now in a foster home w/our trainer learning how to be inside dogs. They both are doing SO GREAT! Banjo is super playful and loves meeting new people and dogs on his walks. He's knows sit, is crate trained and potty trained. He's scared of loud noises and is a bit timid around new things, but that is to be expected w/a dog that's had no socialization in the real world until now. We would LOVE for Banjo to be adopted into a home w/another dog as he loves playing with all the dogs at his foster home or into a home that will hike him a couple times a week and have a couple play dates for him with friends dogs. He's social with other dogs and we love for dogs that like other dogs to have that in their life! Apply to adopt Banjo today! He's really a special little soul that deserves the best life ever!

Story
MILLIE is a lovely adult/senior, 8 pounds, girl Rat Terrier whose senior human dad passed away, leaving Millie and her four little companions, Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy, without their dad. They all get along really well, are house trained, and also know to use pads to do their business indoors, and at night, and when it's raining or very cold out. They are not barkers, only barking to warn that someone is at or near the front door, and then they settle down again. They are great with cats because their housemates have been six (6) cats! If shown a lot of affection and understanding when welcomed into their new homes, we are sure these lovely kiddos will do well in a loving new home even if they don’t stay together. IMPORTANT NOTE: Recently the number of deaths from hungry coyote attacks has greatly increased. Coyotes can climb 10 foot fences with a small to medium sized dog in their jaws. This happens in broad daylight in the middle of the day, and on trails while hiking with your dog on a leash, it is truly unbelievable, and we have frightening first-hand accounts. We are listing these lovely pups to help their current foster/rescue in finding them wonderful new homes. All four girl pups are spayed, Shorty is neutered, and all of them current on vaccines. To learn more about Millie (Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy), please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal email for donations and sponsorships).
