At just 15 pounds, he’s a compact companion with a classic Rat Terrier personality: intelligent, spirited, and yes — a bit bossy! But if you’re a terrier-savvy person who understands and appreciates these traits, Frankie could be your ideal match. Frankie is the definition of a “one-person dog.” Once he chooses you, he loves with his whole heart. He bonds deeply and intensely, and he can be quite protective of that bond — which means he prefers a quiet home without too many new faces coming and going. He’s not the kind of dog who wants to make friends with everyone, and he doesn’t need to. He just needs you. Frankie especially adores men, and he does well with other dogs — particularly female terriers who speak his same spunky language. He’s fully house-trained, crate-trained, and walks nicely on leash. He thrives with structure and consistency and would do best with someone who can give him both. If you understand terriers and appreciate a loyal companion who will be completely devoted to you (and only you!), Frankie is waiting. He’s not for everyone — but for the right person, he’ll be everything. 🐾❤️

Story
Rio came to us as an owner surrender when his family was losing their home to eviction. He was one of a number of dogs in the home that needed new homes, and we were able to take 3 of them. Rio is a friendly boy who is somewhat timid when he first meets new people or encounters new situations. He warms up quickly! There's no aggression - he's just a little scared at first.\ He loves other dogs and we would like to see him in a home with at least one other dog. He was best friends with a dog in his former home, and seems to love having a canine companion or two. He would be happy to live with children 10 years old or older. Rio is a wonderful boy who will make a great family member!

Best friend Buddy is the total package. He loves people and greets everyone, always eager for attention.   At 12, Buddy ended up in a rural Tennessee shelter. We do not know his backstory or why such a sweet boy would land in a shelter. We may never know.     At Critter Cavalry, we adore seniors and believe they deserve every chance to find a loving home. You won’t regret considering Buddy—he loves everyone, whether human or animal. Buddy is everyone’s best friend.     Buddy is healthy for a senior. He has limited sight and hearing, but is otherwise in good shape. He navigates his foster home easily and enjoys exploring the fenced yard. He comes when called—just use a louder voice.   Buddy is ready to retire with a couple eager to add him to their family. He’d love a fenced yard to explore—size isn’t important—and an active retirement with short walks and car rides.
