Story
Frankie is a fiercely loyal little guy with a huge heart — and a strong preference for his person. At just 15 pounds, he’s a compact companion with a classic Rat Terrier personality: intelligent, spirited, and yes — a bit bossy! But if you’re a terrier-savvy person who understands and appreciates these traits, Frankie could be your ideal match. Frankie is the definition of a “one-person dog.” Once he chooses you, he loves with his whole heart. He bonds deeply and intensely, and he can be quite protective of that bond — which means he prefers a quiet home without too many new faces coming and going. He’s not the kind of dog who wants to make friends with everyone, and he doesn’t need to. He just needs you. Frankie especially adores men, and he does well with other dogs — particularly female terriers who speak his same spunky language. He’s fully house-trained, crate-trained, and walks nicely on leash. He thrives with structure and consistency and would do best with someone who can give him both. If you understand terriers and appreciate a loyal companion who will be completely devoted to you (and only you!), Frankie is waiting. He’s not for everyone — but for the right person, he’ll be everything. 🐾❤️

Story
Rio came to us as an owner surrender when his family was losing their home to eviction. He was one of a number of dogs in the home that needed new homes, and we were able to take 3 of them. Rio is a friendly boy who is somewhat timid when he first meets new people or encounters new situations. He warms up quickly! There's no aggression - he's just a little scared at first.\ He loves other dogs and we would like to see him in a home with at least one other dog. He was best friends with a dog in his former home, and seems to love having a canine companion or two. He would be happy to live with children 10 years old or older. Rio is a wonderful boy who will make a great family member!

Story
Best friend Buddy is the total package. He loves people and greets everyone, always eager for attention.   At 12, Buddy ended up in a rural Tennessee shelter. We do not know his backstory or why such a sweet boy would land in a shelter. We may never know.     At Critter Cavalry, we adore seniors and believe they deserve every chance to find a loving home. You won’t regret considering Buddy—he loves everyone, whether human or animal. Buddy is everyone’s best friend.     Buddy is healthy for a senior. He has limited sight and hearing, but is otherwise in good shape. He navigates his foster home easily and enjoys exploring the fenced yard. He comes when called—just use a louder voice.   Buddy is ready to retire with a couple eager to add him to their family. He’d love a fenced yard to explore—size isn’t important—and an active retirement with short walks and car rides. He will be a wonderful addition to a family that matches his lifestyle.   If you want a new best friend, Buddy is perfect for you. To learn more about adopting him, contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com or 615-943-7311. Approved application and adoption fee required.    July 30, 2026, 6:57 pm

APPLY FOR SPRITZ Hi… I’m Spritz. Right now I’m about 4 lbs of tiny chaos and charm, but don’t let the size fool you—I’ve got personality for days. I’m a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix, and while I don’t know much about my dad, I do know my mom is around 23 lbs, so I’m probably going to end up small-to-medium when I grow up. I’m the kind of pup who likes a little bit of everything: I’ll play with you I’ll follow you around like I’ve got important business I’ll nap like I just worked a double shift I get along with pretty much everyone—dogs, cats, kids… if you’re friendly, we’re already buddies in my book. My energy level? Let’s call it “fun little burst, then dramatic nap time.” Stuff I’ve already got handled: Age-appropriate vaccines Neutered Microchipped I’m still figuring out the big world, but I’m doing my best and honestly? I think I’m doing great. I’m sweet, a little goofy, and very into being wherever my people are. If you’ve got a lap, a couch, or even just a sunny spot on the floor… I can make it work. I’m flexible like that. So yeah… I’m Spritz. And I’m kind of hoping you’re my person. APPLY FOR COLADA  Meet Colada! Tiny but mighty adorable, Colada is a pocket-sized burst of sunshine with four wiggly paws and a whole lot of love to give! At just 3 pounds, this sweet little girl is basically a living, breathing cuddle with a heartbeat. Born to a 23-lb Rat Terrier mix mom, Colada’s dad is a mystery, but her future is a little easier to predict: she’s expected to stay small to smaller-medium when grown. For now, she’s busy mastering the art of being irresistibly cute. Colada is playful, curious, and just the right amount of silly. She has a moderate energy level, meaning she’s always down for a fun romp… followed immediately by a nap in the coziest spot she can find (preferably on you). She’s a socialite in training and gets along beautifully with dogs, cats, and kids - basically everyone she meets is a potential new best friend. Colada is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and she’s officially ready to find her forever family. If you’re looking for a tiny best friend with maximum cuteness and endless snuggles, Colada is ready to waddle right into your heart. APPLY FOR SHANDY Meet Shandy! Shandy is 4 pounds of puppy perfection with enough charm to melt even the toughest hearts! Born on May 22, this little gal is equal parts playful, cuddly, and downright adorable. Shandy is always ready for fun, whether it's chasing toys, making new friends, or showing off her puppy zoomies. She has a moderate energy level, so she's happy to play, then curl up beside you for a well-earned nap. This tiny lady gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids, making her a great fit for almost any family. Her mom is a 23-pound Rat Terrier mix, and while Dad remains a mystery, Shandy is expected to stay small to smaller-medium when fully grown. She's already spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her age-appropriate vaccines, so all she needs now is a family to call her own. Like every young puppy, she's still learning crate training and housebreaking, so she'll need a patient home that will help her become the amazing adult dog she's meant to be. Shandy isn't looking for a perfect family, just one that will love her through her puppy adventures and celebrate every milestone along the way. In return, she'll give you a lifetime of tail wags, happy dances, and unconditional love. Tiny body. Huge heart. Endless love. Shandy is ready to join her forever family - could it be yours?
