Story
Benji is a 5-year-old male Rat Terrier/Boston Terrier mix. I adopted him as a puppy from Animal House, and he has been a beloved member of my family ever since. Benji is a sweet, loving dog who enjoys companionship and being around his people. He loves attention, cuddling, and spending time with his family. Overall, he is a well-behaved dog who can be very affectionate and loyal. Benji can become overly excited when visitors come to the home and has shown aggression in certain situations. He has had two bite incidents that we feel it is important to disclose to any potential adopter. However, he has never chased down and bitten a person or another animal. We want to be completely transparent so that he can be placed in the right environment where he can be successful. We believe Benji would do best with an owner who understands his needs and can provide structure, patience, and a calm environment. Despite his challenges, he is a sweet and loving dog.

Get Squiggy with it! Suited best for a low-energy household, this shy guy is sweet with a small bark that will melt your heart. He is soft spoken and likes it that way! At around 9 years old, Squiggy likes it quiet for his naps so a household with no small children would be an ideal fit. Despite his quiet demeanor, he does find moments for play. Squiggy loves playing with other dogs and adores chasing tennis balls. While he is not known to have boxer in him, he likes to put his dukes up while playing. The Squigs is also a huge cuddle bug, although he does cuddle in small spurts. You may have to build some trust, but once you do, Squiggy will be the friend for you! Squiggy is neutered, fully-vaccinated, heartworn negative, and microchipped. Adoption fee: $285Follow Squiggy’s journey on our Facebook page. Little tripod PIERCE has recovered well from his amputation surgery and is ready to find his furever home! Pierce is a sweet, affectionate boy, about 8-10 months old and fully grown at 15 pounds. He spends his days charming his foster sisters and foster mom, playing with his toys, playing bitey face with his foster siblings and just generally loving life. His 3 favorite times of day are play time, cuddle time and dinner time. Pierce is a handsome mixed breed little guy, our best guess is a MinPin/Rat Terrier type mix. He navigates very well on 3 legs, he wasn't using the leg that was injured months ago and badly healed. Pierce is basicallly perfect, he's housebroken, crate trained and good with cats and other dogs. He would love to find a home with another similar-sized medium energy dog who loves to play. If you'd like to meet Pierce, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Pierce at our weekly adoption event, Saturday 11:30am-1:30pm at PetSmart Eastgate. Our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.
