Story
Imagine driving down a rural country road on the way to pickup groceries, when out of the brush comes 2 walking Halloween skeletons.  That is what  Benjamin and his partner Olive looked like when we took them home.  Benjamin is a sweet JRT mix that is about 2 years old and weighs 27 lbs. He loves to play and destuff all of his stuffed animals. When his energy runs out, he will snuggle next to you on the couch. He is a smart boy and will keep you on your toes. Benjamin is learning house manners and will stay in a crate. Benjamin walks well on a harness but beware of squirrels. Because of his high prey drive, absolutely no cats!!! A fenced yard is highly desirable but not a necessity. he can always go out on a leash but never off leash when not in  fenced yard .      If you love the energy and personality of a jack russell, then benjamin, we'll check all the boxes that you are looking for.  Please email critter cavalry rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.    please inform us where you live, city and state since we R based in Tennessee. But we do transport out of state to the northeastern corridor.      PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 12, 2026, 5:24 pm

Story
When Violet’s owner suddenly passed away, her world was turned upside down. Her single elderly mom cared deeply for her and was they were constant companions. She was left in a place of deep uncertainty, unsure of what would happen to her. Sadly, the family she was left with showed her little attention or affection and simply wanted to pass her off to someone else. She languished for 5 months after the sad death and in that time she lost weight and became very depressed.  That’s when Critter Cavalry stepped in—to show Violet that she was wanted, valued, and loved. When she arrived, Violet was not only painfully thin and very scared. It seemed as though she hadn’t felt a kind hand or a gentle hug in quite some time, nor known the comfort of consistent care. Despite this heartbreaking start, Violet surprised us all. Day by day, she began to brighten—eating more than you’d ever think her little body could manage and slowly gaining the weight she so desperately needed. As she filled out, her personality began to emerge. With each passing day, she became more playful and curious. Violet is a quiet, gentle soul. She is a beautiful black and white Rat Terrier mix and weighs about 20 pounds.  While she often prefers to observe from a distance as the other pups roughhouse, she’s perfectly content to quietly coexist—snuggled up on the couch, soaking in calm companionship.Violet is learning how to live life again, rediscovering trust and comfort at her own pace. She would thrive with a calm, patient, and understanding family who can continue to show her what safety, kindness, and love truly mean. What a joy she could be for a retired couple or single woman who wants to be the center of Violet's adoration and love.  She deserves a resurrection in life and a solid promise of a forever place to live out her many years that she has ahead. Housebroken, non-destructive when home alone and good with other dogs and cats, this girl is a peaceful soul that will bring so much to your life.  Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 12, 2026, 5:24 pm

Story
LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY. Peabody is a 2-year-old Rat Terrier mix (we think). He was pulled into our rescue from an over-crowded, rural, KY shelter because he was not tolerating the environment well and was shut down. He was terrified when first arriving at his fosters home. It took time…but not much. We have video evidence that he is a Velcro mix. He likes dogs about his size, but gets passive-aggressive with bigger dogs. Meaning he runs his mouth. He would have no problem with another, playful dog or being the one-and-only. He likes to watch TV on the couch, beside you, with his eyes closed. He will be the big spoon every night and knows how to fit perfectly into the small of your back. Peabody will likely need the expected 3 days to decompress in a new environment. But once he has stopped fretting, he’ll be melting like butter in your lap. We think Peabody needs to find that doesn’t require transport, so applications must be local to TN. I need to be adopted in Crossville, Tennessee. FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering. Adult Dogs are Heartworm Tested and Treated as Needed. FOCCAS does not DNA test or guarantee breed. Peabody's adoption fee is $300.If transport is needed, there are additional fees to cover department of agriculture requirements and transport, the additional fee adds $300 to the adoption fee (any location out of Tennessee, East Coast, Great Lakes or New England regions)Thank You for Your Interest in Adopting a Canine Companion from Foccas-tn.org!To Apply Please Copy and Paste to your browser:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=hb2428&method=online_form_html&formid=41LOCATED IN CROSSVILLE, CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN. Story
Debbie-Decker Terrier/Rat TerrierTri-colored female, ~3 yr. (May 2026) Contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application. Debbie came to rescue when her owner could no longer care for her. They said their life was too busy to have a dog and asked a Dog Trainer/Head of a Dog Prison Program to take Debbie in. She's been living as a foster dog with the Trainer for a couple weeks and has done very well with her large dogs. She's friendly, well behaved in the house. She's crate trained and a joy to have around. Said to be high energy, she'll make a great hiking of running partner. Debbie is about 35#, a nice medium size. This week she started the Training Program at the Prison and will be learning basic obedience and so much more! UPDATE from Rescue volunteers: We all adored this dog!! So friendly, out going and full of energy! Would be a great walking, running and hiking buddy so be ready to keep up! Debbie's adoption fee is $350 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Please include your location and a phone number for future communication. "The Decker Terrier is a remarkable and rare branch of the Rat Terrier family, admired for its size, versatility, and loyal temperament. Sometimes referred to as the “Decker Giant Rat Terrier,” this breed was developed in the 1970s by Milton Decker with the goal of creating a dog that was larger, athletic, and adaptable while still retaining the intelligence and loyalty of the traditional Rat Terrier. Today, the Decker Terrier is known as a loyal companion, excellent family dog, and versatile working partner — making it one of the most sought-after Rat Terrier variations."

Story
We will never know Raya’s past, but she came to us from the shelter as a stray with urine stains on her fur and recently healed scars on her head and side. Raya is believed to be around 4 years-old and is probably a mix of rat terrier and chihuahua, now at a good weight of 9.5 lbs.! She had her spay and a small benign mass removed from her left armpit shortly after arriving, and saw specialists to address extreme pain during bowel movements. Finally, in November 2025, she had double knee surgery to correct her painful injuries. Although Raya has healed well she will probably remain a little lame on her right rear leg but that doesn’t stop her at all! She is back to going up and down stairs, can now get up on the sofa by herself, and is even dancing for her breakfast! Although she has mostly done well with the other resident dogs, she has displayed signs of resource-guarding with her crate. These behaviors might be related to the physical scars she has and her experience with other dogs prior to the shelter, so she would do best in a home with no children or dogs. Although she can be a bit barky at people and dogs when out walking, she is very treat-motivated and can easily be redirected. When introduced to the resident cat, Raya did not seem interested. Even though Raya does not ask to go out, she is reliably house-trained on a schedule. Raya is cute as a button, recovered from knee surgery, and is ready to start looking for her forever home. Considering Raya’s past, she would do best in a home where she would get all the attention and not have to share her human(s). You can see more of Raya in her online photo album at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/raya Because of her past injuries and recent surgery, we are looking for a local adopter to be able to meet her and learn more about her! If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www. NewRattitude.org/adopt/  From there, you can access our adoption application or contact our Adoption Team for more info.March 9, 2026, 11:01 pm

Sweet Elsa is one of the girls from the "frozen litter" that was surrendered to rescue at 6 weeks old. We were allowed to spay her mom before returning her to her family. Both parents are under 15lbs. She is a spunky little girl now looking for her own family. She has been completely vetted and microchipped. She is pee pad trained and just started house training. She will need a family that is will to continue to work with her training and understands puppies can be a lot of work. She will make a wonderful addition to any family. She is fostered in Knoxville TN, but transport to a location near you is provided by Rescue Riders LLC and is included in the adoption fee.

Story
Benny is a sweet, curious, and laid-back boy who is ready to find his forever home. He loves people deeply — whether that means a good cuddle, belly scratches, or just hanging out together. Whatever his people are doing, he wants to be part of it. Benny loves the world around him. He's super happy being outside, watching nature from any window, and soaking up car rides with the breeze on his face. Back inside, you'll find him napping like a rock, playing with squeaky toys, or curled up close to you. He doesn't bark much, which makes him a pretty easy houseguest. He's doing well with housetraining, crate training, and leash walking, and he gets along great with other dogs. He hasn't met young kids or cats yet. If you're looking for a loving, easygoing pup who just wants to be near you and soak up life together, Benny might just be your guy!
