Story
Location: Strasburg, VA Meet Begonia! Begonia is a timid, yet incredibly loving dog who blossoms with patience and trust. She may be scared initially, but once she feels safe, she loves to sit and lay right next to you. Begonia has a generally relaxed energy level, enjoying occasional play or short walks and is content with light daily activity. She is good with other dogs and children under 12, but she takes time to warm up to strangers, preferring to build trust on her own terms. Begonia is currently working on her house, leash, and crate training. She's not yet safe to leave unattended and requires supervision. Begonia is a smart girl who is working on her basic commands and responds best when given time and positive reinforcement. She has a unique way of expressing herself – she's calm when left alone, but can be quite vocal when she wants to come out, or if her crate isn't clean, or even if her brother makes a mess – truly a little diva! Begonia sleeps in a crate and is looking for a patient and understanding family who will earn her trust and give her the time and space she needs to come out of her shell. She will thrive in a home where her sensitive nature is respected, and she is given the opportunity to build confidence at her own pace. Begonia is a special girl waiting for the right home to help her shine. Included Veterinary Care: Visit to Veterinarian: Health certificate included Vaccinations: Up to date for her age Spay/Neutered Microchipped Heartworm Preventative Flea and Tick Preventative Worm/Parasite Treatments

Story
IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Oakley: Oakley is about 9 months old and weighs 22 lbs. We think she looks like a Rat Terrier/Feist mix (JUST A GUESS). Oakley is absolutely the sweetest pup ever. She is so loving and just wants to please. Oakley is great with other dogs, but we have no idea on cats. Oakley loves all people and while she is not in a foster home with children we think she would do just fine with children of all ages. Oakley is learning how to walk on leash so for right now she will require a home with a large fenced yard so she can get her exercise. Oakley has not had any accidents so far in her foster home. Oakley does well with being crated for 2-3 hours. Oakley would do best in a home where she is not alone all day and would love another playful dog to play with. Oakley is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. The Adoption Fee is $400.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Meet Chrissy Meet Chrissy, about 5 pounds and very sweet, loves to play, figuring out where to do her business and a fun girl. Expected to be 20 pounds or so. PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us. The adoption fee is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. Puppies under 6 months of age may go to adoptive homes before they are spayed/neutered with a spay/neuter contract. Adopters who choose to adopt a puppy that has not yet been spayed/neutered are subject to an additional deposit of $100 (refundable upon proof of spay/neuter prior to the contracted date.) Included in the adoption fee, the rescue will arrange spay/neuter by a partner vet at a predetermined appointment when the puppy is between 7-9 months of age. It is the responsibility of the adopter to bring the adopted puppy back to the rescue vet for spaying/neutering or, if they choose, to send verification from their own vet (at the adopter's own cost) that the puppy had been spayed/neutered. All of our dogs will be microchipped. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment
