Story
Slinky is a large, ~11-month-old hound mix with a calm, easygoing personality and a gentle nature. He’s sweet, friendly, and gets along great with other dogs and cats. While a little shy at first, he warms up quickly and settles into a relaxed, low-key companion. Slinky is the kind of dog who brings a calm presence—he’s not high-energy or demanding, just happy to be part of a stable home. Good fit: someone looking for a big, chill dog who is easy to live with and enjoys a quieter, more relaxed lifestyle. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (neutered/spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $450 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
I am looking to rehome our Redbone Coonhound, Zeta. She is the sweetest girl on earth and is extremely playful. She is about 2 and a half years old. We got her in AZ as a 12 week old puppy. Her mom was a full blood redbone and her dad a full blood bluetick. So she is half and half, but her coat is way more redbone than blue tick. She can be loud, but hasnt really learned how to bay since she grew up with a golden who was fairly quiet. She is gentle, we saw this with our toddler. She is house trained, but we always did keep her kenneled while we were away at work as its something we just do with our dogs. For us, she is consistent with sitting by the door to let us know she is needing to go outside. We are rehoming as we are now in an apartment and our work hours take us away from home for 10-12 hours a day. We fear we cannot provide the stimulation and enrichment she needs as an active breed. Please ask any questions.

These pups are in Aurora, Colorado too!

Story
If you’re looking for a reason to smile every single morning, meet Howie! This big guy is a bundle of wagging tails and puppy kisses. Howie is the kind of pup who thinks the world was created just for him to explore, and he’s looking for a co-pilot to show him the ropes. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2700621##
