If laughter, adventures, and unconditional love are on your wishlist, Gunner is ready to answer the call! This 1-year-old neutered Redbone Coonhound weighs 49 pounds and is the perfect mix of sweet, silly, and wonderfully goofy.
With his soulful hound-dog eyes, adorable floppy ears, and those delightfully derpy expressions, Gunner has a way of making everyone smile. Whether he's flashing his goofy grin, giving you that classic "Did you say treat?" look, or sniffing every blade of grass like it's the most exciting discovery on Earth, this handsome boy knows how to make every day more fun.
Being a true hound, Gunner believes every walk is an adventure waiting to happen. Every scent tells a story, and he's more than happy to investigate them all! The good news? He walks nicely on leash, making him a wonderful partner for neighborhood strolls, hiking trails, camping trips, or simply exploring the world one sniff at a time.
Gunner absolutely adores other dogs and seems to get along with everyone he meets. He's a loving, easygoing boy who enjoys making new friends and would be thrilled to have a canine companion to share his adventures with. He also appears to be potty trained, making him an easy addition to his future home.
Sadly, Gunner's story began with heartbreak. His previous owner left him chained to the shelter door, never looking back. On top of that, this sweet boy required entropion surgery. But if Gunner remembers that day, he certainly doesn't let it define him. Instead, he greets every person with hope, kindness, and a wagging tail, as if he's still convinced the very best is yet to come.
And honestly? We think he's right.
This goofy boy deserves so much more than being left behind. He deserves a family who laughs at his silly antics, appreciates his gentle heart, and lets him finally experience what it feels like to be truly loved and cherished. A soft bed, exciting adventures, plenty of sniffari walks, and people who will never leave him behind—that's the life Gunner has been waiting for.
If you're looking for a loyal sidekick with a contagious smile, a playful spirit, and enough love to fill your home, Gunner is ready to make your life infinitely brighter.

We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently.
Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog.
If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded.
Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets.
The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
