Story
Last year, Baxter walked out of Animal Control and into what we hoped would be his forever home. We thought his story had a happy ending. 💔 Instead, Baxter has found himself needing us all over again. Today, he was moved into boarding, and our hearts are breaking for him. Baxter is a timid, sensitive boy. The noise, the kennels, the constant activity... it's simply not where he belongs. He is overwhelmed, confused, and desperately needs a soft place to land. Baxter is only about 2 years old. He's fully vetted, housebroken, and one of the sweetest souls you'll ever meet. He doesn't ask for much... just a person to love and a place where he feels safe. 🐾 Redbone Hound mix 🐾 Fully vetted 🐾 Housebroken 🐾 Dog friendly and would do best with another dog companion 🐾 Needs a secure fenced yard (that hound nose can lead him into trouble!) 🐾 Extremely loving and eager to bond with his person 🐾 Thrives in a calm, stable environment Right now, Baxter needs a HERO. 🙏🏼 A foster. An adopter. Someone willing to show him that not every goodbye is forever. Please don't let boarding become his new normal.

Story
Meet Cooper, a Redbone Hound with a story of resilience and a heart full of sweetness. Cooper came to Furkids as a rescue, and while he's faced his share of challenges, including a prior leg injury that led to the amputation of one of his back legs. You'd never know it by watching him move. He gets around just fine and lives life with the same easygoing charm as any other hound. Cooper has lived with other dogs before and did well. He's a super sweet boy, ready and eager to become someone's next family member. Cooper is currently heartworm positive, which means he'll need to be adopted in Atlanta area so he can return to Furkids for treatment. Furkids will cover the entire cost of his heartworm treatment. With a little patience and a lot of love, Cooper is ready to start the next chapter of his life with a family who will stick by him through it. Cooper's estimated birthdate is January 2024 and he weighs 73 pounds. His adoption fee is $315, and he has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. To learn more about Cooper or schedule an in-person meeting, head over to furkids.org/adopt to fill out your adoption survey and get connected with our adoption team. You must be 21+ to adopt.

Story
A foster-to-adopt option is available for me, giving us the chance to get to know each other before making it official! Meet Lucky – Your New Best Friend! Lucky is a fun-loving, energetic pup with a heart full of joy and a personality that charms everyone he meets. A volunteer favorite, Lucky lives for playtime—whether it’s chasing tennis balls, playing fetch in the yard, or lounging with a stick after a good game. He even loves drinking from the hose and showering his favorite humans with kisses! This smart boy is housebroken, food-motivated, and eager to please. He knows commands like “sit,” “drop it,” and comes running when you call, “Lucky, here!” With gentle guidance, Lucky continues to build confidence on leash, though he does like to chew on it—so a metal leash is recommended. Lucky will thrive as the only dog in the home due to some resource guarding, and he has a special soft spot for teenagers. He can be shy around unfamiliar men at first, but with patience and consistency, he forms strong, loyal bonds. Sweet, smart, and always looking for direction, Lucky is ready to bring love, laughter, and plenty of kisses to his forever home! Lucky weighs 47lbs. and is approximately 3 years old (est. birth date 11/30/2022). Lucky has been neutered, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. Lucky's adoption fee is $85. If you want more information about Lucky, please submit a survey at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. At this time, meeting our dogs is by appointment only. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. Must be at least 21 years of age to adopt.
