Story
Hello, friends! My name is Lulabelle (or Lulu for short). I'm a 9 year old. redbone coonhound. I currently weigh about 95 pounds, which is far too much, so foster mama has put me on a diet and fitness regimen to help me drop some weight and feel better. So far, I'm doing a really good job with it! It helps that I'm a hound dog who likes to sniff and explore. It makes my short, gentle walks so much fun! Once I drop the pounds and can walk a little farther, I'll be so excited to see and smell more new things!   I'm a very easygoing, mellow dog. After my daily stroll and sniffing session, I enjoy finding a comfy spot to curl up and snooze in. Despite being a hound dog, I rarely bark and never howl. I'm house trained and walk politely on leash. I don't require a crate when left alone because I don't get into things (in fact, I usually just sleep). I enjoy a good ear rub and back scratch also. I might not mind living with another mellow dog as long as they don't steal my food or my napping spot. I'm not sure if I've ever met a cat.   In addition to losing some weight, I'm also working with my vet on a couple other minor health issues. Probably just older dog things, but we're still figuring it out. But in the meantime, I'm enjoying healthy food and supplements to feel the best that I can! I can't wait to be in tip top shape and to find my forever family!   An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org    Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods  have breed restrictions. Story
Our 'lucky' Penny is looking for a home with a yard and family to enjoy it with. Penny's foster mom describes her as a sweet, gentle, goofy "people-oriented" girl who is wise well beyond her years as a 2 1/2 /3-year-old. Penny came to DRDR from the Jackson County Shelter after being found abandoned and pregnant and is regaining her weight/strength marvelously after nursing her babies and experiencing depression in a shelter that was at max capacity.  On a typical morning, you can find Penny greeting or "seeing off" the neighborhood kiddos on their way to school and enjoying the splendor of this cool weather as we ease into fall. Her fun, curious, and goofy personality shines in her discovery of play-time and toys. Like your typical easy-going hound, she LOVES her tennis balls, in fact, she'll let you know when it's rolled through the fence with her gentle, yet goofy "woo, woo".  After a nice walk and playtime, Penny loves a good nap, either in her crate or on her dog bed that's 'conveniently' placed in the soft sunlight streaming through the windows! While she likes to do her own thing sometimes, she also loves curling up next to her buddy Digby. If you are looking for a wonderful companion to enjoy both time in your yard and the comfort of your home, Penny is the gal for you! If you are interested in meeting or adopting Penny, please submit an adoption application at www.dirtroaddoggiesrescue.org.  ##1817780##

Story
Red is a two-year-old, 50-pound Treeing Walker Coonhound turned into the shelter because his owner could no longer care for him. The shelter had him with other dogs in the play yard and took him to Volunteer Day. Red is great with people and dogs and doesn’t have the loud houndy bark. The owner said that he was good in the house, too. Who doesn’t love a hound? If you would like to foster or adopt Red, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com and apply. ##1802386##
