EJ is a fun, young hound. He needs someone active, with a big outdoor life that will take him on adventures. He is affectionate and loyal to those who show him love. He would prefer to be the only dog as he doesn't like to share. He is not good with cats or other smaller animals or small people. He really wants to be a working dog.   For more info about EJ and our adoption process please enclose your phone number with your inquiry or call Jacki at 941-587-4612. May 16, 2024, 10:06 am

Jean is more than just a pup; she's a bundle of joy waiting to bring endless love and warmth to any family lucky enough to welcome her into their home. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Olive (GA) is a spayed female Redbone Coonhound mix estimated to be a year old at the time of intake in early February 2024. Olive is up to date on core vaccines and is microchipped. Olive is good with people, kids, other dogs and cats. Olive and her puppies were taken into rescue and immediately brought to our veterinary partner for medical treatment. Olive is a petite girl who should max out at about 35 lbs. Olive is a gorgeous color, and she is sweet and friendly albeit a bit shy until she gets to know you. She loves going for walks to meet other dogs, saying Hi to other dogs, having her head rubbed, running in circles and her foster canine sister. Although Olive is stronger and larger than her canine sibling, she is extremely gentle and submissive. Although Olive currently is not a barker or howler, s he is all Hound and will likely not do well in a city setting. If you would like Olive to grow up with your last name, please apply to adopt Olive (GA) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.  Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 18, 2024, 8:15 pm

Story
This cutie pie is Katie Girl - she's 4 months old and weighs under 25 lbs. It’s getting warm out and she will make a good walking/hiking buddy for someone who likes the outdoors! She’s almost fully potty trained but again she’s a puppy and will have some accidents.   Katie Girl's mama was a Redbone Coonhound but her dad is a mystery. This girl is full of energy but loves to snuggle, too. She walks well on the leash, gets along with other dogs, and cats! She also does great in the car.   Katie Girl will be coming to NorthStar to find a forever home with people who will give her the attention & training a puppy needs to grow into a wonderful adult dog. If you'd like to meet her, please fill out an adoption form at www.northstarpets.org and ask for her by name! May 18, 2024, 6:47 pm

Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! Story
My name is Winnie and I am anything but an 'old lady'.   I may be 7 years old and carrying a few extra pounds....63 to be exact, but I am a sharp cookie who is ready to help you drive around in your car and I will even stay quiet and not be a backseat driver.  I love car rides and I am ready to go at the drop of a hat.  I won't bore you with the rough circumstances I have come from.  What I really want to talk about with you is how sweet and loving and devoted I will be if you make me your girl.  You see, I am a breed that not a lot of people know to consider or go looking for.  I am a beautiful, mature, quiet Treeing Walker Coonhound.  When you look at the video attached to my post, you will see that I bark less than the girl dog who lives at the foster home permanently.  I say my say and I am brief.  I really know my house manners and I am just perfectly happy laying around in the kitchen if you are there, or the sofa if you are in the room, or even at the feet of my wonderful foster mom while she works in her home office.  I am the easiest companion dog you will ever find.  I am around two adorable children who are 10 years and younger.  I love them and they think I am pretty terrific too.  I have an idea.  If you are a retired couple and you want a walking buddy, then choose me!  If you want a dog that you can trust your grandchildren of any age, then choose me! If you want a calm, easy going dog that is not hyper or excessively fast energy, then choose me.  If you want a dog that you don't to groom like those designer purse dogs, then choose me because I can take a bath in the backyard when it is warm and I will love it.  And if you want a dog that will wag her tail with all the love and devotion that I have in my body, just to show you I am happy you are home, CHOOSE ME!  I want to live with people who like to sit in the Lazyboy and watch TV, people who walk around their yard and enjoy the beauty that God brings every Spring.  I want to belong to special people who love dogs and would never run them off with mean words.  I know there is someone out there who will love me just the way I am.  CHOOSE ME!  Write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 18, 2024, 8:13 pm

Story
Our sweet Abby is just a joy to be around. She came from a high kill shelter in South Carolina. We actually saw her on Facebook when they were begging for someone to get her out of there. She was 24 hours away from being euthanized. There are so very many stray hound dogs and the shelters run out of room so they only stay for so long before they are put to sleep. It's very sad. Abby is the sweetest, most loving girl that you will ever meet. She just loves everybody! She is a full blooded Walker hound, approximately 2 years young. She came with heart worms but we treated her and now she is heart worm free. She is also crate trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped and ready for her forever home! could that be you? PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $500
